Is there a reason that the search result's for a user's post history only return 4 pages? Could this number be increased at all, without the user simply changing the number of posts per page setting?

Typically that feature is used to find a recent post of someone's, increasing the number of results increases the amount of resources the usage consumes. People have tens of thousands of posts, that feature really isn't meant to be a way to look through all the historical posts of a person.

If you are looking for a specific post from someone you can use the full search feature and filter by the poster and it'll search all their posts.

I appreciate the explanation. I wouldn't necessarily want or need to see everything someone has posted, certainly not tens of thousands. But for people who post frequently (I'll use you as an example), 4 pages doesn't even return two months of posts.

Would the resources needed to return 8 or 10 pages really be that much more significant?
