Oh well. At least the Flames are embarrassing the Canucks at least once a game when they enter Rogers arena.

-Last game - Hartley with the troll of the decade. Nucks confidence shattered and plummet in the standings commences.
-This game - Big Ern blasting one past Lack from ~wait for it~ center ice. Lack/Nucks/Nucks fans confidence shattered.

Job well done.

Don't we have 10 rookies in the lineup?
Ortio
Wotherspoon
Granlund
Knight
Monahan
Colbourne
Bouma
Hanowski
Byron
Reinhart

Where's the cutoff fire being a rookie?

####ty game to work. The control room was going nuts over Bieksa's win in the fight. Hard to bite my tongue. Sloppy game from both sides but the Flames just had no luck, never do in Vancouver.

Canucks won't be making the playoffs this year.

I believe it's 25 games, so Byron and Bouma wouldn't be considered rookies.

As for the game, thought both teams didn't play their best games. I'm not sure how the Canucks can be happy with their game, only short periods of time in the offensive zone against a team that had 8 rookies. Not sure if Henrik is missing his brother or what but I can't remember if I even heard Ball or Hrudy mention his name. First time in a long time where the Sedin's have been relatively ineffective against us for more than one game. 2 points in 4 games against us for Henrik and Daniel has had 1 point in 3 games.

Granlund looks like he'll be a full time NHL player next season if he can keep this up. At this pace he might only go back to the Heat for the playoffs.

Bouma's play this season has been inspiring and for a guy who almost a year due to injury. Most players would change the way they play and be hesitant in sacrificing their body but he continues to do everything he can to help the team win. Not sure how anyone on the bench can not be inspired by his play and give it their best effort.

Ortio played strong enough to the win and I think will challenge Ramo next season for the starter's role next season. This season i'm a torn on sending him back to the Heat so he gets the majority of starts but I could see him also taking the starting role in Calgary away from Ramo with how calm and collected he's been.

Did the Canucks really only have 14 shots?? The crappy part about that is that it worsens Ortio's numbers.

Why do you care so about Ortio's numbers?

Rumor had it if the Flames had won tonight then Tortorella would have been fired.

Does that mean he's getting fired if they lose their next game, or was it just a loss to Calgary?

I'm not saying what you heard isn't true, I just never understood why things like this might be case. If you get to the point when you are saying if the coach loses a game he's gone, you should just fire the coach, it's not like they can go undefeated the rest of the season.

Seems likely a silky thing to care about though. Ortio's numbers this year will be of little consequence to anything.

Whether Gillis wanted him there or not, there was then speculation that if the Canucks lost to the Flames, Tortorella could have been fired within 48 hours.

It is inevitable.

Either Gillis will do it or the new GM will.

Unless you believe in playoff miracles…

@botchford you think Torts still might be gone within 48 hours? Not like they went 2011 Canucks tonight

@taj1944 no, ownership still has to be convinced

Lets just remember Hrudey lives in Calgary and is a season ticket holder and always has positive things to say about the Flames.

I didn't know he lived here. He's always been a kind person whenever I have bumped into him. I like him. It's not biblical what these guys do.

This is probably the first PGT where the adjectives 'silky' and 'biblical' have featured.

I like Hrudy, he has a really positive mindset and always looks for the good in anything or anyone. I'd definitely prefer to see the world through his eyes over some d'bag like Healy.

As for us last night, I have little in the way of complaint. We worked hard and have a group of players you just can't help but get behind. Bouma stood out a mile for me, that shift where he blocked three shots, tells you all you need to know about the heart and determination he has - and there are so many others on the team who have that as well.

I loved Ball's comment at the end of Bouma's shift that he was more beat up than Evil Knievel!

The biggest downside of the night for me though was Cammalleri. He is a one trick pony and right now he is executing it with all the proficiency of Aunt Clara.
