Plus there is very little content for 4k. Netflix has a bit if you are subscribed.

Do you get the PVR only or do you get the portal boxes as well, for free?

I'm just getting the 4K PVR box, only have one 4K TV in the house so didn't ask for more then that. I just continue to use my current HD portal boxes.

I know my Linksys E4200 didn't work with it. They said it would, but it would cut out after 30 minutes. Took them almost an entire month to figure out what the problem was, and after multiple factory resets, they eventually told me I had to use their router or buy a new one.
That said, I just set up my router as a Wireless Access Point and disabled the Wireless on the Telus box, so it isn't all bad unless you need some features on your actual router that the Telus box doesn't have.

TELUS Optik TV Thread
Does anyone know how all my recorded shows just get wiped out? Was watching tv and the main PVR box froze, nothing was working, couldn't change channels or anything. So I shut the power off waited a few seconds and fired it back up.
Works fine now but when I went to my recorded shows all 200+ were wiped out! I've been on hold for over 40 minutes to see if they can be recovered and find out why it happened.
Just wondering if anyone else experienced this before.

PVR's are not designed nor meant to save shows in perpetuity. It's not permanent storage.

Judge Judy alone takes up around 70 I'd say. I record pretty much everything. Don't see the harm.

Huh? They're designed to record shows. How long I keep them should be my decision and not at the whim of the pvr crashing.
I'm replacing mine on Thursday so I'm losing everything. Telus is replacing my old one because for an upgraded model. My choice though. Losing 4 season of GoT I kept taped. Also some sports. Still have 2014 men's gold medal game. Bunch of other stuff.
Most of it can be replaced if necessary via internet if need be I guess.

It's just a hard drive so #### can definitely happen but it really shouldn't happen that easily. Hopefully just a glitch and the data is still there somewhere.

Well that clears that up. Up is down, black is white, cats and dogs getting married and recording devices aren't meant to record.

Is there any difference between what they can offer you if you call versus going to a store? Is it better to one or the other?

Well that makes two of us because the OP never said anything about storing in perpetuity. Read closer next time.
