Default any of you players had compartment syndrome?

I was diagnosed with it today after having severe burning in my outer calf during games. So bad that I had to stop playing because I felt like the muscle was going to tear.

if you had it, how long did you have to sit out?

was it worth it?

Who diagnosed you? How'd they diagnose you? How long have you had symptoms for? What are your symptoms and when do they come on?

In my personal experience CECS (chronic exertion compartment syndrome) is widely over diagnosed. If you have CECS, no amount of rest will help.

diagnosed by the sports doctor and the symptoms came on a few weeks ago. Symptoms feel like my muscle is going to rip in half.

Can you be a little more specific?

Generally something needs to occur to incite CECS that causes the increase in intra compartmental pressure. Burning in the calf could be many different things.

Intra compartmental pressure testing is the gold (realistically the only) standard for diagnosis. True compartment syndrome can only be resolved surgically, but again, it is over diagnosed - even in the literature.

I just got done being tested at the Andrews sports medicine in Birmingham.

1. that test sucks!

2. one of the residents got sick and passed out, good news is his face broke his fall.

3. only made it 2:45 on the treadmill before I had to stop

I was in the 30's prior to running, after I was in the 60's in my right leg and 70's in my left. I'm just waiting on the surgeon to call to schedule the surgery.

I cant walk because that needle they used to stick me left me a little sore. They got me with lidocaine before but I could feel the needle pressure breaking the skin. I looked back at the fiance and she was white as a ghost about ready to throw up.

Be happy that you got this done today and not 8ish years ago. The syringe-looking pressure measurer needle is maybe 18 guage. If you went back to the older style Stryker guns, those were at least 16 guage, maybe bigger. For reference, injections are typically done with 25-30 guage.

Best of luck with your fasciotomy.

Which compartments did they test?

Surgery is fairly straightforward. All they do is cut the fascia all the way up and down. Anterior, lateral, and posterior compartments fairly straight forward, deep posterior a little more complex but my surgery was done in like 30 mins (2 separate surgeries). Recovery is mostly swelling control, fairly easy but then again I knew what to do.

I think they say months before running again but i was running in 4 or 6 weeks.

I filed for unemployment but I know the employer is going to fight me on it so it's going to be at least 5-6 weeks before I know if I get it or not.

I've went ahead and cancelled my directv beginning 4/1, dropped my internet to the lowest, and selling off items to pay for bills.

So I will have the surgery next Friday April 4th.

My employer is being super jerks right now and fighting me tooth and nail over unemployment. So I've put a bunch of my clothes together to take to Plato's closet a consignment store that gives you money.

I'm selling my Xbox and Gaming PC

I started a gofundme thing, what is the worst thing about all of this is that I cant get a job because of the surgery.

thanks for being there for me guys. I'm freaking out right now and about to have a panic attack.
