It was 9 days ago Treliving was on the air on the Fan saying the timetable for Sam to come back was about two weeks. Sometime next week I'm sure we'll hear something about Sam. Team has a home stand here coming up so he'll likely be back practicing with the team again.

Gong to wager a guess around the 20th Sam will see some sort of game action wherever that may be.

As one of the biggest Bennett supporters even before he was drafted I will promiss you he doesn't and won't have Gaudreau like skill.

Gaudreau's skill/vision is "elite"..like in top 1 or 2% in the league elite, he will do things that Bennett and 98% of the league simpley can't do.

On the bright side Bennett will also do things Gaudreau can't as well...great future for us flames fans.

Thanks! Hopefully they let him play a few games before sending Him anywhere.

I think the games are too important to take rookie for a test drive. I think he has to go to Addy first. I think the Flames may just be timing the 14 day conditioning stint so it expires after the trade deadline when the roster limit increases.

The original timetable was 4-6 months. Tomorrow will be 4 months to the day and he's been described as "ahead of schedule." Gotta be any day now.

I was at the Kootenay Ice game tonight in Cranbrook and I was got to watch Sam Reinhart play in person for the first time. He was good, probably the best player on the ice but I still think we got the better Sam. I still can't believe he fell to 4th overall and the Oilers didn't take him before us.

Sam Bennett seems more explosive and creative. I am glad he is a Calgary Flame and can't wait to see him playing someday, whenever he is healthy or next season.

Just to add a bit of info:

Whether a shoulder heals "stronger" than it was before depends on the type of surgery.

There are two main variations of shoulder stabilization, a "smaller" surgery that mostly involves just soft tissue repairs, and a bigger one that involves bone grafts and stuff.

If you get just the soft tissue repair, your shoulder is not quite as strong as it was before. If you get the bigger surgery done, the ball of your shoulder is actually held in the socket by a bone graft. So with the bone graft it may be less likely to dislocate than it was before you injured it (making it stronger *in some ways* than it was before).

The soft tissue repair is actually the preferred option, however. Because if you blow your shoulder after the soft tissue repair, you can "upgrade" to the bone block version.

If you blow your shoulder after the bone graft surgery, its ****ed, you're ****ed, and your career is probably ****ed.

RNH had the soft-tissue version done, Hall has the bone graft version done.

I don't know what Bennett had.

I would be surprised if Bennett had a graft, likely not necessary given how it sounds that he was able to hide the injury pretty well, and too many things that could go wrong with it. And Bennett seems like the prototypical player I'd see wanting the quickest, sure-fire way to get back on the ice.

Depends on the player and how close they are to being cleared.

I believe Bennett stayed behind to continue his on-ice rehab.

@SUNRandySportak: #Flames Sam Bennett among first on the ice for the morning skate. Not wearing a “no-contact” sweater.

Bennett does not have Gaudreau's vision, but as far as elite skill I think he still has it. Hands, speed, and release are all elite for a player his age. Factor in that he put up an assist per game in his draft year I feel like he could end up being a top notch offensive player.
