Kingston should be in the playoffs even without him I would expect. They have some good players.

Here's a possible blessing in disguise:
If Bennett could play like he did last year with a nagging shoulder injury, imagine what he could have done if he was 100% healthy. He might have been drafted #1 overall, and the Flames would never have had a shot at him.
If the shoulder heals 100% (which seems likely), the Flames are going to get the player that Bennett should have been in his draft year. Depending on his development from here on in, he could put the rest of his draft class in the shade.

worth it to note that Kypreos mentioned it is similar to the surgery Hall had, but he is hearing the damage is not bad as Hall's.

I believe Kypreos also mentioned that depending on how the healing process goes (in terms of expedience), there's a decent chance Bennett still gets some NHL games in before the decision is made to send him down to Kingston for whatever is left of their season.

So here's the question, if you had known this at the time would you still have drafted Bennett fourth overall?

Yes, even with his shoulder injury I thought he was very impressive, once it's fixed he'll be even better.

Hall had the same injury (worse actually) and is fine now in terms of his shoulder.
It's not a "serious" injury in the scheme of things compared to some other potential injuries.
He'll be fine, just will have a hiccup in his development.

I don't think it matters with this kid. His skill, brain & desire are all firmly NHL-level attributes. He would have cracked this roster if he was a year older and stronger. Very nearly did so anyway.

Kypreos said it? Crap. Bennett's gone for two years, minimum, boys.

No, because he would have gone first overall.

Give him Sarich's blood, and he'll probably be good to go by this weekend.

Hell, give him my blood and they wouldn't even have to sterilize the instruments for the surgery.

Here is a question.
Should Bennett recover soon enough to still allow a 9 game look in the NHL this season, can we send him to the AHL first for a conditioning stint?
I know he would not normally be eligible for the AHL, but was hoping this might be a loop hole we could exploit to get him a few more higher level games.

I seem to recall reading that he could have a 14 day conditioning stint in the AHL and still play his 9 games with the Flames without burning a year off his ELC.
