Unfortunate. I hope they do not rush him though, take as long as needed so that it doesn't become a problem in the future.

That's tough news.
On a high note, this apparently has been a lingering injury for quite some time. It appears no WJC; or NHL time this year. It's better this gets done now, rather than he tries to mess around with it for longer.
I see a full recovery on its way, and an even better player afterwards (this would be a great opportunity for him to bulk up after he's able to resume training).

Excellent.
It's good to get this done, and treated properly rather than have it linger on into the first stage of his professional career. Good move.

A whole year of development lost will not be pretty.

My surgery cost me 3 months of work, Bennett will get about a million bucks for his.
Life of a professional athlete is good!
Rehab well and cya next year.

He only gets a mil if he's playing in the NHL, if not he gets what was it? 70k or something

I imagine that he'll still be watching film, working on his knowledge of the game, he'll physically mature/age a year and will increase his core and lower body strength... he won't just be sitting on the couch watching Seinfeld reruns eating bonbons.
Not perfect, but it'll work out fine. I don't think he was going to develop a whole bunch dominating the OHL anyway.

Hopefully he's good to go for the end of the OHL season and he rips it up in playoffs.

He'll get his entire signing bonus as well. $92,500. The $70K is his AHL salary.

Guess he over did it with those 11 pull-ups.
Hope all goes well.

Well that blows. Was looking forward to seeing him in the WJC.

Yeah that's rough for him to miss the whole year.
I'm thinking he will go back to junior next year and play in the 2015 WJC as he will still be eligible.
Basically just extended everything by a whole year. NOt being able to do anything for 6 months means he can't develop on the ice and can't get bigger in the weight room.
Surgery is the best route though, get everything fixed now.
