Wow, step away from the cliff.

Other than Bob and Jacques, what other "capable coaches" have the Flames let go?

I became a fan of Hartley after the way he drove John Tortorella crazy in that Vancouver game.

It is enogh to say tha GM job wan done bad? Treliving got really young team after Feaster with lowest salary in NHL and on that package team got playoffs. Before this year's deadline we had 5th salary cap in NHL and finished 12th. Is it for coaches? We had 1 full year to get starting goalie, 1st RW and 2nd scoring line. Whole year was spent for nothing by GM...

I wonder if Bob was strongly against a move that Treliving wants to make on draft weekend. Just saying perhaps Treliving wants to move a key player and Bob said I walk if you do it.
This just seems so out of left field firing Hartley. I think something heated occurred?

I think Hartley did a good job with what he had. Since he was not a Treliving/Burke hire, I'm sure he was on the chopping block from the beginning.

I don't think it has anything to do with the availability of Boudreau and I think it might have happened last year had Hartley not won the Jack Adams.

With that being said, I think that the best coach that we know to be available is probably Boudreau. Maybe he can tell us how to beat those damn Ducks in Anaheim

Dreger hinting at Travis Green. Would be funny to poach him away from the Canucks.

@DarrenDreger
With a somewhat unexpected change in Cgy, it seems more likely Utica coach, Travis Green is going to land one of the NHL jobs.

Bring back Darryl and hire Reggie as an assistant.

Also trade for Iggy.

Profit!

I don't like it. I thought Bob was an excellent coach. Too bad his goaltenders couldn't stop a beach ball all year.

I liked how the team battled under Hartley. Hopefully the new coach puts the same emphasis on hard work.

Rumour of player discontent, Superbowl debacle......Clearly Hartley's release was a contractual condition for both Monahan and Gaudreau

If you are talking about that interview with Eric D on Fan960, I thought he shot down Rhett pretty quickly. Something along the lines of "you are reaching".

Not a fan of this move.

Also, Boudreau seemed like an idiot on HBO 24/7.

McKenzie's insight/opinion:

CGY decision to terminate Hartley had less to do with who's available and more to do with management believing it's time for a new voice.

That's too bad. He was instrumental in bringing a don't quit work ethic into the flames. It won't be long before he finds another job I think

Maybe they just didn't want to give him another year. I was part of the group that thought maybe he would get one more year and then they would go in a different direction because that seems to be generally how it goes... a coach will get 2 to 4 years depending on how it goes. But maybe BT didn't want to give him the opportunity to stick around... What if he gave Bob Hartley that extra year and the Flames go out and get a decent goalie, or Ortio has a good year, and all of a sudden the Flames are contending for a playoff position again... How do you get rid of the coach then?

Bob Hartley was supposed to be defensive-minded but everyone saying our defense was in shambles. Goaltending situation wasn't his fault but maybe that's why it seems like our defense wasn't that good? The thing that really got me was that our power play was I think last in the league or near the bottom. That to me is inexcusable with players like Johnny, Gio, Brodie, moneyhands...

I didn't get a chance to listen to 960 this morning...just tossing out an obligatory conspiracy theory.
