Yeah, I was surprised by that comment as well. Our association pays for the coaching certification and training courses. They pay for up to 5 Respect in Coaching (or whatever it is) certifications per team.

Pucks, first aid kits and whatever are included in our fees but we pay a deposit that is refunded if we return all of our stuff in good condition. Interestingly enough the kids also get two pairs of socks which they keep that I wasn't expecting. I was expecting that we would be paying $30 or $40 per kid for socks.

Quadrant is $3000 for registration/base, $500 has to be sold in adverts for the year book or you pay the $500, bingos (if you don't work them) are worth $300 to the association and team apparel runs about $500. Anything the team votes on for tournaments etc. (ie: how many tournaments to do etc.) are paid out of pocket or via fundraising. If there has been no fundraising and team votes on two tournaments, as an example, it is a cash call of approx. $2000 per kid. It pretty much works the same for community hockey, if i'm remembering correctly except base fee is lower and there is no yearbook or mandatory team apparel, but all else is about the same.

Have you been involved in the planning/operations of a fundraising tournament before? I've done a bit of digging this morning and it seems like the team/association would need to get a "casino license" as a charitable donation but I'm confused on the "casino facility license." Can a community hall or hockey team/association obtain a casino facility license in order to actually host the poker tournament of the casino license holder?
Just host it at a Casino. I went to one at Cash Casino a few months ago for a softball team.

We are with Mavericks hockey and it's paid for by the teams.

for my association it ranges from $700 for timbits to $1300 for midget.

there is generally a cash call which can range from $200-$500 per player almost immediately - this provides seed money for jersey deposit as well as funds for the team bank account.

usually fundraising is done for extra stuff like the team entry fee for tournements and possibly some team apparael.

I usually budget almost $1000 for a weekend tournament for my out of pocket costs like hotel, food, gas etc. this cost can be reduced if you don't go out while at the tournaments.

Nothing better than a night of hallway/stairwell drinking.
