I did not see the actual tweet, but you are probably right.

I know, but
A) I'm not going to dismiss it as quickly
B) We should all want this to come true

He seems to get things 'partially' right:

@NHLFlames are set to sign Free Agent Spencer Foo sometime this coming week, source close to the family says the #Flames are the team.

Joshua Marshall‏ @JMarshyBosco93 Jun 22
.@NHLFlames are closing in on @NYIslanders D Travis Hamonic from what I'm told. Sounds like a 1st round pick & Sam Bennett are the pieces...

Joshua Marshall‏ @JMarshyBosco93 Jun 22
Kris Russell is set to re-signs with the @EdmontonOilers in the next 24-48 hours. 4 years/$18M with a full NMC is what I'm told. #Oilers

Joshua Marshall‏ @JMarshyBosco93 Jun 16
The asking price for @NYIslanders D Travis Hamonic is a top 6 F, 1st round pick & a prospect. #Islanders

Joshua Marshall‏ @JMarshyBosco93 Jun 16
I can confirm that jordan Eberle will be traded by 3 pm on Saturday #oilers

Columbus.

I don't know what their salary cap situation is, but they just bought out Hartnell. They are a fairly strong team so they should finish fairly high for the foreseeable future. They are looking for a center.

Don't know if they have their own needed picks, but perhaps a Drasaitl offer-sheet is coming. With 1st round picks probably in the 20's, Edmonton would most assuredly match. Come on Columbus, make it a big one.

The stuff he gets right is the stuff that's already been reported by others. The stuff that he's unique in reporting is where he's been wrong.

The only time he's really gone out on a limb and been correct was calling Foo to Calgary.

If Wideman signs with the Oilers on Saturday, I'll start believing him.

Even with Foo, Oilers media guys like Stauffer and Gregor were putting out big time smoke signals the day before that Foo wasn't going to the Oilers. Oilers fans were resigned to missing out before the announcement.

A lot of this guys tweets happen on the same day as an accredited insider with a few of the details changed.

You wanna know what's really beautiful?

After waiting 11 years to be a playoff team, the Oilers may have messed up their cap situation so badly that they become a lottery team again.

They are considerably worse going into this season than last season.

And more beautiful yet is that they still don't see it. Rather than ride him out, they chose to buy out Pouliot and spread that mistake over three more years of cap hit.

Talk about not seeing it, they think they bought out Pouliot because Chiapet is going to make some "big signings" tomorrow! How stupid can Coiler fans be!

Wait a second, forget I asked.

Oh man, would LOVE to see the Oilers locked into McDavid + Drai + Lucic for 27-30 million - and - sign Wideman.

What a couple of weeks this would be!

And Edmonton continues to do SFA because their hands are tied because of McJesus and Drysaddle. This is just so entertaining, especially watching their fans spin the message and live in denial.

Have to say I'm almost over this past season series against the Oilers with how well this offseason is going. The Flames are in so much better shape than last October to potentially walk into Rogers place and lay a beating on their 8-figure kids. And while the Flames are shoring up their #4-5 spots, the Oilers' depth for the next number of years is looking worse and worse.

Stone was really the defenseman that Chia should have been targeting if he could have gotten him for 3.5 for 3.

Instead he has a 30 year old Russell who's not particularly good and with the style he plays probably ill slip until he's 34 playing on his second pair out of necessity.

Right now looking at the off season.

Edmonton

Lost Poulliot, Eberle, Sekeras out til December.

Gained . . . . about between 14 and 14.5 in salary for Draisaitl and McDavid and Ryan Strome.

With no cap room to improve their team, and losing two key pieces one on a temporary basis.

I think the good ship Oilers is not only going to be rammed by an iceberg, but probably errrr molested by that iceberg in a unpleasant way before sinking dramatically.

I can see McDavid in a few years suffering from Iggy syndrome where the Oilers fail to build around him. He can only do so much to make his team a winner.

Was discussing E=NG with a buddy last night, and checked hockeydb to refresh my memory.

Roots of the Oilers' dynasty in the 1980s:

1. Lucked into Wayne Gretzky when Nelson Skalbania sold him to Peter Pocklington.
2. Picked up an unbelievable supporting cast by killing it in three consecutive drafts:

1979 – Kevin Lowe (1st round), Mark Messier (3rd), Glenn Anderson (4th)
1980 – Paul Coffey (1st), Jari Kurri (4th), Andy Moog (7th)
1981 – Grant Fuhr (1st)

That's almost the entire core of the Oilers' dynasty teams right there, and they all matured together and peaked at the right time.

The current Oiler team, which so many people are eager to proclaim a dynasty in the making, has so far managed one step:

1. Lucked into Connor McDavid by winning a lottery.

Klefbom might turn out as well as Lowe, and Draisaitl looks like a good core player. (It remains to be seen, though, if he can keep scoring when not riding shotgun for McDavid.) But Nurse is no Coffey, Nugent-Hopkins is no Messier, Puljujarvi is no Kurri, and Yamamoto seems very unlikely to be an Anderson. And because the Oilers truly stink at drafting beyond the first round, you have to pick through seven drafts just to find those pieces.

Bad enough that they don't have the same level of raw talent to build with. They're already dealing away pieces from the last rebuild for cap reasons; how are they going to keep the current crop together? They don't have the luxury of letting a bunch of whiz kids gel together for three to five years. History is not repeating itself, and in this case, it's unlikely that it will even rhyme.

Dynasty, my foot. The arrogance and entitlement of Oiler fans and media is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

Nope. Even though it's FA Frenzy, can't have this beauty fall off into the Abyss. Grab a hold of the life line boys n girls.

Edmonton is no good and must remain a staple as such on page 1 of the Fire on Ice forum.
