Raymond is the very definition of meh. He is at or close to his max potential and still probably would be a 2/3 line forward on a depleted rebuild Flames team.
I'll pay to see the rookies. Pass on Raymond.

Just roll with the new faces along with the current roster. The window was open early July for Raymond now Feaster has made better moves this summer bringing in fresh new forwards.

I would have liked to see him on the Flames just because of his family's heritage here in Alberta, but I can't really see a spot that he would fill. Flames are no longer a slow team, and there isn't a whole lot more development you would expect in Raymond.
Hope he signs somewhere. Outside of that one dive I saw him make in one of the games against Calgary, he has been a fairly likeable Canuck. Hope he lands somewhere.

No offense to the above posters but green text just isn't funny nor does it add anything to the thread.

You strike me as a very happy, cheerful and care free person. I bet it's fun being you!

Mason Raymond would have been a great addition to this team before the likes of Iggy, Bouw and Tangs got traded IMO. That being said I wouldn't mind him being a Flame through he may have lost a step after his back injury.

Wouldn't have minded the addition of Raymond before we got Galiardi. Certainly not the same type of player but Galiardi would be a staple on any 3rd line providing more grit, energy while also having some decent wheels.

Seems strange.
My guess is he's still holding out for more money. Probably wants 2.5+ and teams are offering 1.5 or so. Unfortunately for Raymond, grit is the flavour of the weak, which Raymond does not bring in any way.

Apparently they want to replace Kulemin with Raymond cheaply? That's a huge downgrade.

Mason Raymond will be years old this season and has one twenty goal season in his career. That season came 4 years ago (2009-2010).
He also comes with at least a 2.5 Million per year price tag if he signed here.
Given the direction the Flames should head this would not be a good move. We are rebuilding.
He is however a good pickup for a contending playoff team looking for depth players.

So why are the Leafs giving him a tryout?

Burke was right when he said he left them with a playoff team. It's been a long time coming but T.O. has some good pieces there now and they can be successful if they don't get discouraged but encouraged by last year. I for one wouldn't mind to see it happen, I loved when there was Leafs/Habs battles when Sundin and Koivu were Captains, they were awesome.

The Leafs were a terrible team last year buoyed by goaltending. And they got worse this summer.

I'd bet they miss the playoffs.
