So people are OK with gravity in space ships in the middle of space, completely ridiculous light speed travel, oxygen throughout the entire galaxy and other fantastical ideas, but a CGI'd Tarkin and Leia crosses the line. Right.

What does the plot/setting/story or anything along those lines have to do with complaining about a poorly executed special effect?

I thought they looked fine but you are correct here. The two have nothing to do with each other.

Star Wars Celebration began today in Orlando (the first trailer for The Last Jedi should be debuting in the next couple of days -- I'd guess tomorrow).

They showed this tribute video to start the show.

Aw $$$$

Seriously the world is a little less funny especially the Star Wars universe without Carrie in it.

I sniffled a bit when in that clip as an older woman she said Help us Obi-Wan you're our only hope.

Pretty neat panel from Star Wars celebration with basically everyone coming and going.

The uncanny valley is a well known thing in hollywood, viewers find it distracting when you come close to realistic but have it be noticeably off.

Looks great.

when she see's the structure when she says the balance, it looked like the temple on Mortis from the Clone Wars.

Also on the poster her lightsaber transitioning to Sith Red, and Luke saying its time for the Jedi to end.

I wonder if the intent is one force user left being neutral chaotic. Not there to defend the galaxy from the dark or conquer the light but to merely follow the will of the force whether its dark or light.

Lots of whispering in the background when Rey is talking.

Help me Obi-wan

Vader saying something about the dark side?

can you hear me

the darkness

lightsaber turns on

At least 3 or 4 other lines that I can't quite make out.

When we first see Leia, you can hear "Help me Obi Wan".

When it shows Kylo's smashed helmet, you hear both Vader's breathing and Obi-Wan saying "Seduced by the Dark Side".

The next shot sounds like Yoda saying something, but I can't figure it out.

I loved Rogue One, and TFA was great but a little underwhelming.

This looks like its going to be on a whole other level.

Curse you Disney! Why cant I stop loving what you do?!?

Great, it doesn't come out until Christmas. Now I'm going to be thinking about it for 8 months. Hooked already.

This seems to be the logical way for it to go.

The light and the dark are not the answers to a 'grey' universe. Luke saw his father come back from the dark side, he has dabbled with the power in his fight in the throne room, and he saw the followers of the 'light' lie to him and hide truth. Presumably if Anakin was a force ghost he would have talked to Luke a bit like Obi Wan did and tell him about what sent him down the path to the Dark Side which was rooted in something as natural as love. It was effectively the Jedi's stringent rules that caused him to be vulnerable and go astray (It is a shame that theme wasn't better told in the prequels, it had nuggets of a good idea, just horribly, HORRIBLY told). Like a priest getting kicked out of the church for marrying and having kids.

But moreso I think the balance part would be better defined in the works of the 'original Jedi Temple' and the methods of the Jedi like Yoda and Obi-Wan were taught were the result of of centuries of corruption and change by zealots and the like that ultimately resulted in an imbalanced Force. That what the Jedi became is not what they were intended to be, and that's why Luke things they must end. The big push of "spirituality doesn't need a church" kind of thing.

I'm sure I can come up with something more coherent later but the adrenaline is flowing. Basically Star Wars blue balls for 8 months now.

the weird thing is that it wasn't necessary for Tarkin...they could have easily cast someone similar looking and the film wouldn't have missed a beat...

the end scene needed a cgi leia, but it was one line...

not sure why its controversial to some people.... pretty minor in the scheme of things
