This is great. Lower down the page is the original post with some of the promises:

https://www.bustle.com/articles/2005...ttended-before

Think of Fyre Festival as a luxury festival experience. If you've outgrown festivals where you skip showering for an entire weekend and eat questionable food from carnival style vendors, then you need to get yourself to Fyre Cay this spring.

Each weekend, there will be a treasure hunt and the prizes are way better than cursed gold. The hidden treasures will be worth more than $1 million combined, and include jewelry, cash, and other undisclosed goodies sure to make scouring the island well worth your time.

The Lodging Is A Dream Come True

The only reason you should be sleeping outside at Fyre Festival is because you want to be. Even the cheapest accommodations include a comfy bed and quality roof over your head. This is the kind of festival where you can retire to your room with your friend at the end of the night, sip wine, and relax. No tents needed.

There's Going To Be Top-Notch Food
Foodies have just as much to look forward to as music fans. The dining experience is highlighted as a key feature of the festival. Who doesn't want to spend a weekend eating high-end cuisine on a private island?

Still waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out and yell "Y'all got punked!"

What are the casualties at? There has to be at least 1 for this amount of uproar?

Also consider me disappointed with CBC this morning, they wasted precious airtime on this "story". Ridiculous. Hey CBC I've had a fairly bad week myself, want to come cover that?

The promoter has pleaded guilty to fraud and will be facing 8-10 years in jail.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...-guilty-prison

That seems a little severe. I guess the lesson here is never piss off spoiled instagram brats.

I would assume the real lesson is not to piss off a ton of employees, vendors, artists and government agencies. Sure, the rich kids got upset, but they left a pretty big swath of destruction behind them beyond the people who were supposed to attend the festival.

Sometimes I wonder, and it must be because I'm getting soft in my old age, if instead of wasting time on a jail sentence if an incredible amount of community service would be a better way to go.

Sometimes I think that for some of these crimes, that sentencing a guy to scrub the outdoor toilets in banff in the middle of summer might not do more to rehabilitate.

From a place that sentences mentally disabled people to death, I wouldn't expect much in terms of a alternates to lengthy prison time for any type of crime.

I posted this in the Netflix thread but it's worth mentioning on the mainboard too, "Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened" came out this week.

Real good documentary about this crapfest.

Hulu came out with one a few days ago too. Apparently they are both really good and should be watched. Netflix one is top notch.

Hulu actually interviews Billy too.

To quote Ja Rule from the documentary.. Let's not call it fraud, it's false advertising.

I now have a new found hatred of Billy, Ja Rule, and whatever that sleazy guy's name was that started the scam emails for tickets.

Great documentary, I saw it on Netflix.

It's fraud in the 8-9 figure range. As much as people laugh at the rich kids, there were issues with accommodation, food, and safety. The festival was supposed to take place on an underdeveloped island with a population of 6000 people. There's no way they had instructure to support the concert goers.

Looks like a pretty fitting sentence.

I really need to see this Netflix movie.

The only issue with the Netflix special is they interview a lot of the people who some feel are just as responsible for the mess. Promoters and media and such. The Hulu documentary apparently talks a lot more about that.
