Yikes. This is not the way you want to endure yourself to a new team. I'm not sure what other charges he can get outside of driving under the influence but just looking at his truck it's a good thing he hit a tree and not another car. Maybe entering a program will be good for him because he's got some issues for sure.

The guy has been nothing but trouble since he was in the OHL. I don't know what is going to get through to him at this point.

I couldn't find a tweet in McKenzie's timeline where he said anything about a camera. Some random tweeted McKenzie about the security camera

seems odd he would let some 20 year old chick drive his truck at 6am...security footage who knows but the old switch-a-roo seems likely

That was the first thing that came to my mind but unless some real evidence is available that proves otherwise he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Reminds me of a random story.

I was drunk off my rocker once at new years a few years ago, and my father in law picked us all up after the party. There was a checkstop (or as they call it in BC, a road block) and so my FIL pulls over, naturally. Obviously he wasn't drinking.

The guy in front of us slams on his breaks though, throws the car in park, turns it off, throws his keys into the bushes and RUNS OFF. The cops catch him, and since we saw the whole damn thing they asked my FIL to testify he saw the lad driving the car, then bolting out of it. I'm not sure if my FIL ever testified in court, but the cop said they can't charge him unless they can prove he was driving.

Genius? I don't know if the guy was ever charged.

Management in the NHL have to make a firm commitment as to whether they value character - above almost all else - or they don't. If Bergervin was firmly committed to character he would never have traded for Kassian to begin with.

The Flames have clearly established that character counts the most. It is why Gio is the captain. It is also why Treliving is working on extending Russell. Sure he isn't a big guy, but his character is unassailable!

We don't have all the facts, but it sounds like Bergevin does. And by the tone of his comments, Kassian is very much at fault.

Kassian suspended without pay and enters Stage 2 of NHL-NHLPA joint Behavioral Modification program. Doctors will decide when/if he returns.

This adds a significant wrinkle to the Prust for Kassian trade since this means Kassian was already through stage 1 when he was with Vancouver. Guessing the Canucks were thinking addition by subtraction.

I remember hearing rumors that his back injury last year was a cover for him going through stage 1 treatment.

It does explain why the Canucks basically dumped him for an old guy who might be a better dressing room guy

And now officially in stage 2 of the NHL program.

I'd say a career cut short, but he didn't really have much of a career anyway.

Did the Habs not do their homework when trading for the guy?

Linden basically said as much without throwing him under the bus

Quote:
Linden says the deal made sense for both parties.

"With Zack we just needed to make a change. We didn't feel moving forward we could bring him back. It wasn't a great situation for us or for Zack," he said.
Also pointed out how they had 3 coaches who couldnt get through to him
