Default FanDuel 2015-16 - Link for OCT 8 in post #539

UPDATE: We're back for 2015-16!!
We play every Tuesday ($5), Thursday ($5) and Saturday ($5)
If you want to join us, check the title for the post # with the current game link.

Wasn't sure where to post this, so FOI it is.

Has anyone ever played www.FanDuel.com ?
Apparently, it's similar to Draft Kings, although I've never played that.

It's a one day fantasy draft. NHL, NFL, NBA, etc.
You have a salary, pick your roster, and pay $1-$10,000 to enter each pool.
Highest point getters win real cash. And it's open to Canadians.

For example: Tonight, one pool has a 30k total payout. 17241 entries allowed. $2/entry, and here's the payouts:
Spoiler!

There's dozens of pool choices/night. Some with way less people, and some with higher buy ins.
They payout via cheque or to a Paypal account. I re-invest my winnings, and haven't withdrawn yet, but am up a decent chunk of change so far.

For NHL, you pick 2 RW, 2 LW, 2C, 2D and a goalie.
Those players accumulate points based on performance:
Goals = 3pts
Assists = 2pts
Plus-minus = 1pt
Penalty minutes = 0.25pts
Power play goals = 0.5pts
Power play assists = 0.5pts
Shots on goal = 0.4pts
For Goalies:
W = 3pts
SO = 2pts
SV = 0.2pts
G = -1pt

You can play against random strangers, or create your own groups, and invite friends, co-workers, or CP members

I think it would be cool to have a weekly CP only pool. Maybe every Saturday or something.
Someone here creates the pool, posts the link, and others join.
You can make it so winner takes all, or divide the prizes up to, say, the top 3, for example.

If you ever do decide to join, make sure you check their FB or Twitter pages for your first deposit bonus codes. (they'll give you extra based on your amount deposited, up to $200)

And no...I am in no way affiliated with the company. I'm not even going/allowed to share my personal referral link. I just think it's a pretty decent, fun site and would like to see if there's any interest in making a weekly CP pool. If so, I'll volunteer to set it all up.

Those who are in:
(I'll update the list as new interest is posted)

yup, I played it when I got a deposit bonus and deal on officepools.

I enjoyed it, but lost everything.

I'd be up for being a fish in our league.

Is there a minimum deposit? Do you know if Canadian credit cards can be used to make deposits or do the credit card companies reject the transaction like they do for various betting websites?

Minimum deposit is $10 (US funds) and they accept Canadian credit cards (mine have gone through), as well as PayPal.

Count me in. Depending on the stakes, though. Scientists make far less than the CP average salary

I was thinking of just a $10 buy in. IT can be set lower though.
I'll update those who have said they're in, into the OP.
Interest will dictate how large the pool is.
I believe if you set the pool open to, say, 10 people, then 10 people MUST join, or else the entries are void, and the money is refunded to user accounts.
So, we'll want to keep them small at first, and make them first come, first served, until enough people complain that they weren't able to join, and then we up the numbers.

So, for example: 10 people at $10. Rake is 10%, so it'll be a $90 prize pool.
Could do winner takes all, or:
1st: $50
2nd: $30
3rd: $10
Or something like that.

That sounds fine (I was joking anyway). I have played on Fan Duel for a while. Fun to play though I have lost more than won.

This is correct. I have had this experience in similar pools with Fan Duel.

Sounds fun, I'd be in.

Could even go a step further and up the bragging rights with a weekly rank/winnings post.

I've been using fan duel for the past couple of months. l'm already an addict. My only concern with it is what will I do when the playoffs are over? Cold turkey till Oct is a scary thought. BTW I'm in for any type cp pool. Maybe a 50/50 double or nothing pool would be a better way to go for people to get use to it and build a roll. Just a thought.

Here's the first game...and it's free!

CP FanDuel Contest for March 10, 2015

You have until 5pm Calgary time to submit your entry. You're entry is not final, and you can edit/switch out players any time up to 5pm.
It's listed for 10 people. We have 11 who've shown interest, so it'll be first come, first served. If we don't get 10, the game is automatically cancelled. (That's why I didn't make it for 11, in case one person doesn't participate)

Being the first contest, THIS IS A FREE TRIAL RUN so you can get a feel for it if you've never done this before. You'll have to sign up on the site, but I don't think you need to deposit any money yet. If you do, make sure you find a link for free bonus off Twitter (Twitter100) or see if you can Google another one that will give you bonus money on your first deposit.

This is open to anyone, so even if you haven't shown interest, please feel free to join!
