I just felt it made defenders' jobs easier, and made Huberdeau look bad. Backlund would skate up ice with the puck, and defenders would go to him, but then he'd skate towards Huberdeau (with the defenders still going to him) and pass to Huberdeau, who found himself covered by those same defenders. So he'd then have to try a fancy pass or eat the puck on the boards and posters in the GT would excoriate him over it.
