How good is Rasmus Andersson?

I think Anderson has a lot more offensive skills than he shows. Maybe some players get too comfortable with their game. I’d like to see him take the puck to the net more often and work on that area of his game because I suspect he has lot of natural offensive talent that isn’t being utilized.

Rasmus is very good, Dobson is elite and the Islanders were lucky he fell to them

It turned out to be a good trade for Treliving. He established himself in the old boys network at the executive level of the NHL. He is GM of the Leafs and will have a job in hockey as long as he wants it. This trade allowed Islander GM Garth Snow to be moved out with one good move as a GM. The trade was a small price to pay for Treliving personally in the NHL corporation.

I feel like for whatever reason, Flames fans are quick to suggest dealing Ras away and feel he's replaceable. I noticed it about 3 seasons ago when he had a bad year and many were done with him and even this season in the Trade Rumors thread, people have suggested we trade him away. For me, he's a guy you try hard to keep and is the one guy on your defense you try to retain the hardest. He's developed within the Flames system, seemingly loves the Flames and the city and has a swagger that not many Flames players have (he was voted as one of the most punchable faces by other players). He's not perfect, but no dman is. I'd love to see this guy stay a Flame his entire career. But based on what I've read on the forum, I might be in the minority.

Andersson to defencemen is what Lindholm is to centers. Some games make you believe he's a 1D, other games make you want more from your 1D.


I really like Andersson's offensive instincts, but I think that his defensive game is 3rd/4th on our team behind Tanev, Hanifin, and maybe Weegar. That said, when you consider the entire package and the price tag, then he's a great player to have around.

I would have Weegar ahead of both Hanifin and Andersson for defensive play. Just a hair behind Tanev in that regard.

He’s good.

He skates well, he’s physical, he has a big slap shot, he’s good in all situations.

If we had to pay Hanifin or Andersson 8x$7.5M, I’d rather it be Andersson.

I think the prudent thing to do would be sell Andersson by next deadline for another haul of 3+ assets that can be used to add to the young core they’re assembling.

But I like Rasmus. I’d be fine if he stuck around - he’s an entertaining player, and a home grown one at that.

I love Fatmus. I want him to be our next captain and hope he stays with the organization until retirement.
