I wanted to listen to some old Enigma and looked them up on Apple Music. Found out they released an album 5 days ago. First one in eight years haha.

I like it, nice to work to.

Redd Kross is so great. Their back catalog is so overlooked. Other bands from the 90s that I feel are criminally overlooked (just off the top of my head).

Throwing Muses
Push Kings
Eric's Trip
You Am I
Afghan Whigs
Superdrag
Hefner
Sparklehorse
The Wrens
J Church
Bettie Serveert

Sting was on Howard Stern last week and did Every Breath You Take and Message in a Bottle live in the studio with his Police cover band. Listening to that reminded me of how great a band The Police were so I dug into my old library and have been listening to their stuff for their past few weeks and it's actually aged very well. The amount of great singles they put out in a relatively short period of time is very impressive. As time passes you forget at times how great some of these old bands were.

The first music I bought with my own money was a two-albums-in-one extended cassette with Outlandos D'Amour on one side and Regatta de Blanc on the other. I was 11 or 12, I think, and saved up my dollar-a-week allowance to buy that baby. I also did a presentation on the cold war in grade 9 and played Sting's "Russians" in the background during my presentation. The Police was the first band I truly loved.

Great story. There's something about 3 man bands. Their music was simple in that it wasn't overdone yet complex in that it was an infusion of a little reggae, jazz, punk etc. How many bands could pull off mainstream songs about hookers (Roxanne), teacher/student affairs (Don't stand so close to me), and stalkers (Every breath you take) at a time (80's mostly) where most pop songs were vapid nonsense.

I've never blocked anyone here before but I might have to start. I know someone has mentioned or recommended "Chainsmokers" here.

Saw them last night on the AMAs, you have to be f'ing kidding me. That is some Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber garbage. For shame.

After reading a few of last weeks posts had to dig into the back of the CD rack, pull out some Police, Sting, REM yesterday morning. Even found some country music in there, Gary Allan. Found some Skydiggers, the Hoodoo Gurus, The Tubes.
