Johnny Hockey: Countdown to 20 goals/60 points
He's well over PPG in his last 20+ games. Starting to pick up his prototypical ton of assists.
He needs 4 goals in the last 7 games, might be tough but this thread should help.
20/40=60 seems so much cooler than 17/43=60

It blows me away that we're even considering playoffs when our 'top two' players might not even eclipse 60 points each.

5g - 16a - 21p in his last 16 games played.
If he keeps that pace over the next 7 games that's 9 more points.
Easily in reach for him.

Depth.
12 double digit goal scorers and 6 guys with 40+ points.

Well we play the Kings two more time and the Avs once. That should be 6-7 points right there.

Yeah....I hate to trot out Sutter's 'Twenty-Goal Scorers' philosophy, but at the moment it appears to be working.
But, and theres a chance, but if we miss the playoffs I think we all know where those goat-horns will be firmly affixed.

To be fair, Johnny missed 10 games and would be well over 60/65 points if he played all 82.

He'd likely be around 65 pts right now without the injury, and likely finish with over 70. That would be a killer season, likely top ten or just outside it.

He's also within striking distance of getting back to even on the season.
Currently -4 on the year.
If I recall correctly, I think he's never had a minus season anywhere.
Pretty good stretch as he was in quite a hole after the first few months of the season. The contract, the slump, the injury... it was a tough start to the season for him but I think he's showed over the last few months he's right back to a point a game territory. Expect a much bigger year next season.

40 assists now in 65 games, which is pretty impressive.

He will likely hit 60 points, but I don't see him getting to 20 goals.
He's currently at 16g 40a 56pts.
At this point, a playoff spot pretty much looks locked up; and I expect Johnny & Mony to be rested for at least one or two games near the end of the season. The Flames have 7 games left, so maybe they play 5-6 games. Unless he gets a hat-trick against COL or LA, he's got to get 4 goals in 5-6 games, which hasn't been his pace.
I saw a table/chart a couple of weeks ago that shows Johnny has contributed (goal or assist) in ~70% of the team's goals. That's far higher than McDavid or anyone else on the list, so I'd prefer our top-players to be well-rested for a long playoff run .

I don't foresee much rest this regular season unless the Flames have wrapped up the first wildcard or higher. Despite the little worry and indifference from fans I would imagine all playoff teams will be fighting with everything they have to avoid that last wildcard spot and a date with Chicago.
If the choices come down to resting star players and likely facing Chicago or playing out the season as a full team and facing someone like Edmonton, coaches/GM's will choose the latter.

Resting players can have some value as a team that's consistently played long seasons. Since the team hasn't and isn't in that boat, there's no reason to rest our guys outside of existing nagging injuries.

True, it all depends on how each team's playoff-positioning is during those last few games. My sense is that by the last 1 or 2 games, the positions will pretty much be set in stone by then anyway.
We play LA then SJ to close out the season. LA will probably be out by then. SJ could be a potential first round opponent, but then SJ may rest their older guys for that final game. The California teams tend to be quite physical games when we play them; hopefully there won't be too much pre-playoff hostilities.

1 goal and 1 assist tonight to bring him up to 17g/41a/58p
He's also on a 5 game point streak where he has 9 points total

Not related to Johnny's count down to 20 but his Brother Matthew just signed a ATO with Bridgeport sound tigers. If he plays well, he could also play in the AHL playoffs.
