Unreal career. One has to wonder how much of an impact it would have had on African Americans in hockey if he had played in NY or LA or CHI with more visibility.
Congrats Iggy! You are forever a Flame.

Wish he wasn't stuck on that tire fire of an Av's team. Love to see him take one last serious run with a contender. Just an amazing career regardless though, one of the best power forwards ever.
I'll be watching that game. 5pm on SN360 and City according to NHL.com. Hope he has a huge game.
Amazing career, and without question already a first ballot hall of famer. Count me as someone who wishes that he goes to a legit contender at the deadline and raises the cup. Was great to see Regehr do it, would be great to see Iginla do it as well (and would have been great to see Kipper do it).

If they chose not to, I wouldn't be surprised (although there is no question that they should, along with a few others). The Forever a Flame thing is BS. You are talking about the same franchise that retired Vernon's number in the incorrect colours...you know, the colours he never wore. Somehow somebody higher up realized it was a mistake and thankfully changed it maybe 5 years later.

Was hoping he would score more goals wth the avs, it would be cool if he finished his career being top 10 all time in goal scoring I think he's like 16th overall right now
When you see stats like this it really makes you appreciate just how good of a player we had. Not just a superstar, but among the best players of all-time.

What a incredible achievement for a man who gave us the most memorable Stanley Cup run that many of us have ever had. His play during the spring of 2004 was perhaps the best individual playoff performance I have ever seen. Hope he has an incredible night.

It's amazing how few games he has missed over a 20 year career.
Another ''what if'' scenario is if Iginla never missed those 12 games in 2006-2007. To me that what his finest season. He was a complete beast that season. I remember a couple articles where the mid-way season awards were talked about. At the midway point, he was Hart/MVP favourite. Over guys like Datsyuk, Crosby and Ovechkin. Hard to predict if he would have still beat them out at season end. But the fact he was in the conversation speaks volumes to his abilities.
I think it was a play with Souray where he awkwardly got checked into the boards and his knee twisted and he missed 12 games. He still ended up with 94 points. Extrapolated he could of had 110 pts, including 46 goals. Knowing him, he very might might of had 50.
What a season that was. I'll never forget Don Cherry on coaches corner calling Iginla the most complete player in the game. A bull in a china shop. Opposing coaches tell their players to leave the guy alone, lest his fury take over.
Pretty amazing since that is literally his only injury filled season and he has only missed 4 games since. Playing the power forward style that he did for so many years and has been so durable.
