Hi, would appreciate any comments on this, does the NEXUS pass have any applicability for European travel? Did a couple of bing searches and could not come up with anything. Maybe something like the trusted traveler program in the US.

The UK has their own program call Registered Traveller. Similar to NEXUS, but it seems like you need to be traveling somewhat frequently to be able to get it.

Just a heads up, it appears Calgary does officially have Trusted Traveler lines on the domestic side.
http://www.catsa.gc.ca/trusted-travellers
As another heads up to people who don't already have it: it isn't worth it, don't bother signing up, the regular line isn't that long anyway, do you really want the government to have your fingerprints, retinal scans, DNA, underwear size....
If every idiot occasional flyer gets NEXUS then the advantage it grants NEXUS holders will be diminished.

This has happened to me twice. Once coming back from Hawaii and the last time ... a month ago, coming back to Calgary through Houston.
Both times they told me I was a trusted traveler when they gave me my boarding pass. Then I went through a different line which took only a minute, no taking off shoes, taking out laptops etc.

Plus it costs money! And now Trump has your info. Stay away.
The UK trusted traveller program makes you renew yearly. Probably not worth it for most.

When applying for Nexus, does the US government take your fingerprints, retina scans, etc? I just don't want to giveaway any of my personal identity away unnecessarily, even though I have nothing to hide.

Yes. Most/All? of the machines require you to scan your fingerprints.

When I did it, fingerprints were taken by the American border agents and the Canadians did the iris scan.
I was grilled by the Canadians and the Americans just made fun of me for not smiling for my picture.

Through Airports... Iris scan to get into Canada, finger prints to get into the US.

Has anyone here renewed their membership lately?
If so, did you have your interview on ZOOM or in person?
How long did you have to wait for the interview from the date of your renewal application? It's been three months for us and nothing back so far...

I renewed a few months back and they didn't bother with an interview or new photo. Just sent me a new card with updated expiry date. Super weird.

Did you have to pay for renewal on-line? Our memberships expired in 2020 but they announedan 18-month grace period, I believe. Yet, we had to pay the renewal fees to complete the applications.

I received this in April, haven't heard anything since-
"Scheduling for 2022 and beyond has not been opened yet.
A 24 month grace-period has been added to your expiration date IF you started the renewal process prior to the expiration date."

Pretty sure I renewed and paid the $50 around the start of COVID but have heard/received nothing. Meh, not really planning to go anywhere soon and we'd need to sort out Nexus for the little guy anyways.

I have been travelling to US and it’s nightmarish at the big airports. LA, Austin, Atlanta, Denver, Houston - lines to security are just enormous. I spent one hour and a half waiting in line in Austin. Almost missed my flight. Nexus gets you TSA pre-checked, which is its biggest and most valuable benefit.

What are you talking about? No it doesn't, you still have to wait in line except they get the dogs to sniff you first. NEXUS is a horrendous invasion of privacy and a waste of money and no one should sign up for it.
