In a nutshell, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that NATO and Russia are in direct confrontation now.

Reuters is considered reputable, right? This is less encouraging. But most likely a continuation of the constant Saber rattling we've seen from the start of the invasion.

It means they are running out of options on their current trajectory. Cornered bear looking to lash out.

Meh, NATO shouldn't fear Russia.

The Russia bear isn't beaten and malnourished

They have been saying that literally since the first week of the war. Pretending to be sitting at the adult table so they can sell to their population (including bots in this thread) just how mighty the red army is. Meanwhile, the rest of the world looks at these statements and laughs at the russians. Pathetic they need to lie to their population since it's "shameful" to lose to Ukrainains. Even more pathetic their people (and bots here) lap it up like thirsty dogs.

The Falcon-300 (Rotax 914 variant) drone manufactured in Ukraine is reportedly ready for action. Range of 3,300km

These are no joke, they can operate in poor weather conditions and have guided missiles with a range of up to 10 km that can take out ships, tanks or maybe even a certain train car or limousine

How are they different than the Bayraktar, which was highly effective early on, until it wasn't. Honest question, I'm not seeing the difference, unless it gets around specific prohibitions against use inside Russia.

Manufactured in Ukraine means that there should be no restriction on where it is used.

So probably still not effective in heavily contested war zones but free to roam Russia and kill soft targets?

This is miles better in every way. Here's an article on it before the war comparing the two.

https://premium.globalsecurity.org/m.../sokil-300.htm

Quote:
The Falcon-300 complex from KB LUCH is designed to conduct reconnaissance and strike at the operational and tactical depth of the enemy. The main characteristics of the drone: payload weight - 300 kg; maximum take-off weight - 1225 kg; the wingspan of the UAV is 14 m, and the length is 8.57 m; maximum speed - 335 km / h; cruising speed - from 150 to 335 km / h; control system - IHS + GPS + terrain map; can be equipped with one of three engines - MS-500V-05C / CE, AI-450T2 and Rotax 91; flight duration - 3-26 h (depending on the engine); design flight range - 1000-3300 km (depending on the engine); armament - guided missiles with a range of up to 10 km. The expected cost of one UAV of the first batch is about 45 million hryvnias, with further reduction by 30-40% due to serial production.

Take the Falcon-300 and try to compare it with the Bayraktar TB2 (the Turk is also a reconnaissance and strike force). The Ukrainian device is bigger, and in some respects even better: the payload of the Bayraktar TB2 is 50 kg (we have 300 kg); maximum takeoff weight - 650 kg ("Falcon" - twice as much); the wingspan of the UAV is 12 m, and the length is 6.5 m; maximum speed - 222 km / h ("Falcon" - 335 km / h); flight duration - 24 hours 34 minutes.
The Bayraktar TB2s were very effective in hitting advancing columns where Russia didn't bother to use any air defense or EW and decimate smaller targets like tanks. They were lighter / slower drones not suitable for bombing larger or well defended targets (hence why they were used as a distraction again the Moskva instead of a strike force, and have not been used on large target)

300kg payload is very significant. To put it in perspective, a Khinzal cruise missile (Russia's best 'supersonic' missiles) can carry 480kg, and that's a fricking cruise missile. Add to this 50% faster speed, better design and ability to produce in house, and it's a game changer.

6 Russian Fighter Jets were destroyed, and 8 more Fighter Jets were damaged by Ukraine damaged at Morozovsk, reports the 25th Air Assault Brigade

On approach to striking Russian airfields last night, some of Ukraine's drones were equipped with speakers playing a German drinking song from the 1970's.

Supposedly this includes 3 severely damaged Tu-95MS strategic bombers.

Kharkiv is a city with roughly the same population as Calgary. It is getting the #### beat out of it right now and barely a blip in the news. Many residence haven't had power for a few weeks. Non-stop glide bombs, missiles and shelling. The russian objective is to simply make the city uninhabitable. Literally if they can't have it, no one can.

In short: the frontline has been moving at a glacial pace, and it doesn't look like Russia has the manpower or equipment needed to radically change that in the next offensive.

Ukraine is holding.

Drones are improving at a revolutionary pace. We're starting to move from drones using things like grenades, mortar ammo and artillery shells as payload to purpose built drone ordnances. Drones are also more accurate than at the start of the war, flying much further, and with the new bigger payloads they can hurt an increasing number of targets.

The numbers of drones in Ukraine is also starting to get unreal. Ukraine has a goal to build a million drones this year, and Russia is doing no less.
