Flickr is the iTunes of photography. It's such a slow moving site for what it should do. So many useless features, poor lay out, and slow as molasses at times.

My pleasure. It's such a beautiful area, especially when the leaves change. Makes it really easy to get some decent photos!

New? It's been over a year now.
You can blame the clouds... They persuaded me to rotate the camera.

sure... new!!

i look at some of the machines i've purchased for my business - the one machine i bought about 9 years ago, another one about 7 years ago... the machine bought 7 years ago is stilled refereed to as the 'new' machine

so relative to your previous body, the current one is 'new'

great pic by the way - i love the sun's reflection on the water and the clouds are really cool!

I thought that you might have confused me with another poster, someone who just upgraded.

The prizes are amazing, so participation will be at a pretty high level, I would guess.

Nikon recently released their new 58mm/1.4G lens as a symbolic tribute to their older famous Noct-Nikkor 58mm/1.2 lens. Priced at $1,700, this new lens has generated a lot of discussion about the value this premium buys over Nikon's cheaper consumer-grade 50mm auto-focus lenses (50mm/1.4G, 50mm/1.4D and 50mm/1.8G).

This is a stunning night shot (supposedly, unedited) done with this lens on a D800 published on the Nikon Asia site (you can click on the photo to pixel-peep and see the actual image sharpness):

Haven't posted in this thread for years. Thought I'd put up a few random pictures that I've taken at work. All taken with my phone, so not the best shots that I've ever taken, but a couple are pretty:

Maybe it's because I'm used to 12 megapixels and not 36, but that doesn't seem particularly good to me. If it's a wide open test or something it makes sense, but if that's at optimal aperture it's disappointing... in particular the comatic aberration is quite noticeable. Stop it down!

No thanks, driving 3 minutes to Sobey's was an adventure enough.

If I was more centrally located, I'd tempt it.

After much deliberation I picked up my new lens this week. Decided to go with the AF-S Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G DX ED because of the extra mm.

Beautiful day on the island so decided to take a few test shots with it. I think I'm going to like this lens!
