is that a gamestop now? I thought it was EB games?
The one in Chinook is now a Gamestop. Most EB Games are switching over, as I am positive Gamestop bought EB Games ala Bestbuy and Futureshop. The only EB Games I see anymore are the ones by themselves (not in malls), mostly in stripmalls by Edo's.
Add me up and we'll game. I'm still terrible and have only played one game. Now that school is done I can finally study some SC2 builds and watch some pro-replays.
When does the Beta end? It would suck if you got your key only for the beta to end in like 3 days.
This is the closest I've found to an end date.
From Wiki:
On February 17, 2010, StarCraft 2 began closed beta testing.[64] The beta is expected to last for 3-5 months.
Got mine in 3 business days from Amazon and it seems to run OK on low/medium settings even on my crappy laptop computer. The graphics obviously don't look as good, but at least it can run.

Is there some kind of Demo or test program out there that will tell/show you if you can run this game?
I don't really want to throw out the money to find out I can't.
I don't think there is one. What kind of computer do you have? If you got it pretty recently, I think that you should have no trouble getting it to run.

Shows how long it's been since I've been to Chinook mall.
I loved Gamestop in the states around 1998. The stores were more like a comic book/hobby store meshed with a videogame store but things have changed a lot of course.

I really don't know if my computer is a HP pavilion dv2000 or dv2700.
On the top right of my screen it says dv2000, but on the bottom on a sticker with the serial code any everything it states dv2700.

I think they just changed in like in February so it hasn't been that long.
Really contemplating getting this game or not. I know if I get it I won't have a life for 8 months.

Get it dude. Easily worth the 60$. It is possible to still have a life... it's just an awesome game if you're ever bored or unsure what to do. Have been playing the beta over at my buddy's house and can't get enough...

Starcraft isn't for everyone. Have you played other RTS before? Starcraft is a game that is very difficult to become good enough to compete online with if you have little experience.
I know personally that I will never get my actions per minute or strategies and micro managing or my macro managing to be good enough to play online against other players.
If there is one game that can leave you feeling inadequate, it is this (and other such games). I am only interested in SC2 for user made games and custom maps. Warcraft 3 has been the most fun game I've had for over 7 years and that is simply because of the custom games like Tower Defense, Dota, Mauls, etc. that people have created.
That said, I love watching Starcraft with commentary. This will give you a taste of what the game is like with good players. The sportscast-like commentary will also help you understand what's going on. I think my favorite is Battle Report #4.
I know what you're saying. A lot of the "l33t" people will "pwn" my "ass" online. I'm not new to RTS games, I have been playing Age of Empires off and on for basically 10 years but not online ever.
You can play 4vs4 games though right? Like team versus? That would be good enough for me. Leach off the CP users. mwuahaha
I must say, i love this game.... after playing the 5 placement games it put me in the silver league ( 2nd hardest ) not bad for not just playing 5 games....LOL
