Default Jian Ghomeshi: Guilty or Innocent?

Well it looks like today is the verdict for the most famous criminal case in recent memory. How will the jury find Ghomeshi, guilty or innocent? I honestly think it will be a not guilty verdict, due to the alleged collusion of the two complainants, as well as some information that was not disclosed. Just my two cents.

Well, I chose innocent but it really should be not guilty. He is far from innocent but I don't think the crown did an adequate job and he will get off (heh).

We shouldn't have to make this distinction, but just in case:

This is what we think will happen, not what we think should happen.

I put not guilty. Too many questions about the victims.

Can they just decide to charge him for something else? Like instead of sexual assault, just assault? Not sure how that works.

He's guilty, but it'll be not guilty.

I found this trial underwhelming. The Bosma trial in Hamilton is way more intriguing than this. I hope Ghomeshi is found guilty, but it sounds like there is reasonable doubt.

Bah, I thought the poll was do you think he's guilty or innocent.

Will likely be an innocent verdict.

Judge Horkins started reading the judgement about 15 minutes ago. Expected to take an hour to enter into the record.

Pretty much this. I think he overstepped his bounds and has gone over the line many times. But he happened to hire a smart lawyer who shrewdly dissected the prosecutions case.

Very crappy for the victims, but that how Canadian justice rolls.

CBC's Laura Fraser is live-blogging the decision.

Lame. On the front page it says "Jian Ghomeshi: Guilty..."

Was looking for a verdict, not a poll

From what is there so far, the judge is ripping apart the accusers.

How do you know that?

It's still possible that the judge is appeal-proofing a guilty verdict.

Considering the quality of the complainants testimony, no one should be shocked.

You have to feel sorry for the victims as Jian likely did step over the line and into an area that was likely abuse, but come on...

Why lie to make him seem even worse? The lies told by the witnesses that they were all essentially caught in immediately are just so foolish.

That's how the law works. It isn't a tool for vengeance, it's a tool for justice. Jian may be "guilty" but he deserves to be deemed innocent after this joke of a prosecution.

Yeah, well, not surprising. When you look back on it, you really see what a disaster the whole trial was. Not really the prosecution's fault as the witnesses obviously misled investigators.

Can the poll choices be changed?

I think he assaulted these women and more, but before we send someone to jail we have to be sure beyond a reasonable doubt.

I'm biased from hearing rumors in the music community. The Judge was able to assess the credibility of the witnesses.

Whatever the verdict, I understand there is a protest planned by survivors.

Alright now it's getting to a point where you'd have to say he's going to walk.
