Stevenson, an undrafted defenceman from Gull Lake, SK, is playing in his first full AHL season after spending the last 5 seasons of his professional career in the ECHL. Stevenson signed a 3 year entry level contract with the Washington Capitals in April 2010, foregoing a college hockey scholarship to St. Lawrence University. He began his professional career in 2010 playing for the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays assigned to the ECHL by the Capitals out of camp. In 2012, he was assigned to the Reading Royals of the ECHL where was part of the Kelly Cup Championship team. The Capitals chose not to re-sign him after the ELC expired in 2013 and he signed an AHL contract with the Wiles-Barre/Scranton Penguins and had a brief 7 games AHL stint with them before being assigned to the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers. Stevenson signed an AHL contract with the Adirondack Flames in 2014. Prior to turning Pro, Stevenson was named Player of the Year in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in 2009-10 while Captain of the La Ronge Ice Wolves winning the Credit Union Cup (SJHL Championship). He became the first SJHL player ever to sign a pro contract while still in the SJHL. The scouting reports on him describe Stevenson as a big defensive-defenceman who likes to play a stay at home physical game and has a mean streak.
