I have a basic Razer mechanical, can't find the exact photo right now. The buttons are all weird where the primary function (ie 8) is at the top of the key and secondary function is at the bottom of the key (ie *). Makes it weird to look at. I would like to upgrade to a illuminated version with better markings on the keys, but hard to justify a $100 upgrade when mine works
I have a CoolerMaster CMStorm at home, with the mx brown switches. Great keyboard, with my only complaints being the LEDs don't illuminate the 2nd characters and the symbols on the number keys are below the numbers. Otherwise a very solid keyboard.
At work I couldn't spend the same kind of $$$ so I got the cheapest mechanical I could find, the bare bones Monoprice with MX blues.
Having used both browns and blues I think I prefer the blues. I like the clicking sound, makes me think I'm typing faster than I am :P
I took my $100 mech keyboard to work and my cheap Dell work keyboard to home. Good switch since I do most of my typing at work! The only problem is that everybody makes fun of me for typing too fast because they can hear every keystroke from several offices away.
I just picked up the Corsair K70 RGB with cherry brown switches yesterday and I can already see what I was missing. It feels a lot better than my Logitech G15 and with the keys raised above the board I think this thing is going to be much easier to keep clean. The software for the LEDs looks incredibly overwhelming but I think there are some interesting things that can be done with it once I figure it out.
Thoughts? Never had a mechanical keyboard before and the loud nature has kind of been keeping me away. From the looks of things, these switches are quieter, am I reading that right?

As I mentioned above I have the new RGB Brown Switch version of the K70 but for all intents and purposes it's the same board. The older one has the USB passthrough which is a nice feature. The red switches have no audible "clack" nor do they have tactile feedback. So they are quieter than the blues but I find they still make a bit more noise than a membrane keyboard.
If you go to Memory Express (at least in the SE location) they have a small set of 6 keys with different colored switches that you can try out to see how they sound and feel. I am liking my K70 so far. It's much better than my old Logitech G15 and I don't find the brown switches to be distracting. I also like the aluminum construction of the board itself. The thing feels solid.
