Default Markus Frickin Granlund!

This tournament has been this kids coming out party on the world stage! Another 3 points against the Slovaks and tied for the tournament lead in points. I know he's a couple years away but if hes anything like his brother projects to be I feel we may have a gem on our hands.

I'm very happy with how much our drafting has been improved over the last few years. Kudos to Feaster and Management for addressing this issue and fixing it.

More than any other draft in recent years, I think the 2011 draft will turn out to be the Flames most productive draft in the last decade.

Sven is an NHLer, Gaudreau is one of the best players in the world at his age and arguably the best player in the NCAA, Wotherspoon has been a rock on the blue line for Canada, Granlund (as you and Weisbrod has mentioned) has had one hell of a tournament, and while Brossoit didnn't make Team Canada, he's having a solid year in the WHL and has a championship under his belt.

We could see him with the Heat this year, but next year is a possibility.

Personally, I'd like to see him put up better points, and thus confidence, in the SM-Liiga before attempting to come over to the AHL, which is generally a low offense, high defense league.

I remember leading up to the 2011 draft Feaster said it was a draft that Flames fans will look back at as a turning point.

Sven = possible franchise winger
Gaudreau = possible elite winger

Brossoit = potential starter
Wortherspoon = reliable shutdown top 4 Dman
Granlund = possible top 6 forward

I love how well Granlund has played I really haven't heard much about him until Ufa. I still think he is a wild card in terms of making an impact in North America one day.

Last two years they've picked up 3 real good prospects in the 2nd round (Granlund/Wotherspoon/Sieloff). Nice to the see organization managing to pick up and use 2nd rounders after 7 years with 1.

Also the Tom Erixon deal stung at the time but isn't looking too bad atm... if Horak can pick it back up you'll have three very decent looking young prospects from that trade.

Pretty well actually. It took him about two weeks to really get a hold of the league, but now he's got 19 points in 30 games and is a +7.

Yeah I will remain cautiously optimistic until he shows he can adapt to the smaller ice and North American game. He does have some skill and better wheels than his older brother.

One of my disappointments this tournament was not getting to see Finland and Granlund play.

Who did we select with the picks we got in the Tom Erixon trade?

Well Gormley was chosen with our pick had we chosen to give the Yotes the pick we used on Erixon instead. So I disagree. Gormley can be connected to the Flames.

No we can't as we have no idea who the flames would have picked in that spot.

But we don't know whether or not Gormley was on the Flames radar. At this point all we can do is discuss direct connections with the Flames. It's in the same vein as connecting Eberle with the Flames.

I've tried gathering all clips of him scoring to make a video of him but i couldn't really find much of him If only Finland was more followed by the media. Maybe AC has been PVR'ing Finland games (hopefully)

Its too bad they don't show highlights of other teams in the tourny besides Canada. When they do, they just show the first and last goal.
