Default SIM League

Hey GMs,

The idea of a sim league has been brought up due to several gms dropping out.

The idea is that the league would be purely GM focused with no games being played between GMs.

We would do advances much more often making drafts, prospects and signings much more important.

Let me know what you think.

Current List (current or reset rosters):
  1. New Jersey (current)
  2. Colorado (reset)
  3. Dallas (reset)
  4. Chicago (current)
  5. Winnipeg (current)
  6. Florida (current)
  7. Alan21 (reset)
  8. Edmonton (current)
  9. Ottawa (reset)
  10. Columbus (reset)
  11. Phoenix (current)

I'd be in on this IF we reset teams and start fresh. I don't have time to play real games, so it would be fun to just sit back and focus on actually being a GM. Plus if advances are faster, prospects and draft picks will actually mean something.

I agree with this.

However, I don't know if I would want to restart. We're basically one season in, and I've changed my team dramatically since the start. And it wasn't really all that great of a team to begin with.

However, if we were going to restart, what does everyone think of using their team's real NHL roster? Just because there are probably a few situations throughout the league where a team won't have their 1st in the 2014 or 2015 draft because they gave it away for a player. And if the rosters are randomized, you might have missing picks when the team's "randomized" roster isn't that great.

i am for it and i don't think restarting would be necessary. we could probably squeeze in maybe an advance every second or third day especially after the trade deadline since it'd be all line edits. i know diemenz and featsofdaringdo were both interested in such a league. i think the santos bros and jojo might be interested as well since the time commitment would be so much lower

I'm thinking of something with advances every 2 days with each day worth a week of the schedule. We could get through several seasons in the next few months.

I'm not sure how many new GMs we'd get if we used the same rosters. I think new rosters for would make sense (but keep the same teams) for a new type of league.

Default SIM League

I would play a sim league. I would vote to continue what we have. But if we have to start new, Play as the teams we are now. Either real or fantasy rosters and default draft picks (everyone has their own picks) instead of authentic draft pick ownership.

Hey guys,

I posted a list of teams/GMs that would be interested in a SIM league with their preference beside their teams of whether they would like to reset or keep the current rosters.

If you're interested please let me know.

I'd like to create a post in the main forum for new GMs to get a league going in the next couple of weeks.

can someone project how many seasons we would roughly get through if we advanced maybe 2 weeks every 3 days? i think if we get more than 4 seasons or so current would be perfectly fine because people can actually rebuild

SIM Math
  • 2 weeks per SIM every 3 days = 42 days for the regular season & 14 days for playoffs
  • 2 weeks per SIM every 2 days = 28 days for the regular season and 9 days for the playoffs

I'm not sure how many SIMs there are for the offseason.

Just noticed this thread.

Like Stamp said previously several of us on the CP team would be interested in a SIM league. The old "skip my child's parent teacher meeting to play or take a 10-0 loss and injuries" system was terrible so all SIM sounds great.

I would vote for a reset roster as well. I had a look at a few of the teams rosters on a buddy who is playing and its somewhat unbalanced. Like the last few if Detroit is not taken I am all for them.

Never joined before since I wouldn't have been able to play every game, but if this goes to a SIM league I'd love to join
