Y'see, THIS sounds like a pretty good theory.

Does the reserve list have something to do with drug testing perhaps?

Generally, yes. Not sure if that's all that it is, though.

It doesn't.
(Virtually) any player can be added up until a very short time before the first game of the tournament.

Link from Darren Haynes on Twitter. IIHF rules for player eligibility:

http://sochi2014.iihf.com/men/information/#player-entry

Quote:
For the men’s tournament, a maximum of eight athletes (or less, depending on the number of NHL players named to the provisional roster which determines the max number of ‘P’ athletes) can be designated as training partners (‘P’ athletes). These are athletes that weren’t named as part of the provisional roster, but who can travel to Sochi and train with the team, provided they were included on the 1st October athlete long list.
So I guess he can be an injury replacement if he was included on the October long list.

And Canada's was very, very long, so I'm guessing Sweden's was too.

I think Canada's list was 25 guys long. It was mentioned in passing on the initial Hockey Canada conference call.

The initial list was crazy long, way more than 25, because if they had 5 injuries, for example, and only 25 on the list, then they would not have been able to add enough players.

#### this list BS. You should be able to grab whichever player you need, if you feel you want him on your team. Seeing as you can never predict as early as October who might break out and look really good that you didn't initially consider.

They may not win but you are an absolute idiot if you think they have a bad team and know nothing about hockey. Its a one game knockout tourney so maybe they do get 4th or worse but come on now. I guarantee they are the odds on favorite to win it all with odds makers all over the world.

anyway I'm pretty sure you are just trying to get a rise outta us so I will leave it at that. If you honestly believe they are a bad team nothing you ever say can be taken seriously because you obviously have no clue what you are talking about.

You know moon is in the sin bin right now so your anti-Canada moon baiting isn't going to work.

They are a team with good players but not built like a team which is why I'm not cheering for them. Good players, bad team.
