Actually it was mostly Matthew that did that. "Wait until you see my brother play! He scores better than me, he hits better than me, fights better than me, hell, when he gets naked in the dressing room we call him the human tripod, just an unreal beast!" Something like that anyhow....

TBF Brady probably has more physical tools. Bigger, faster for sure. But Matthew has the brain and the instincts.

He was considered a better prospect because he’s bigger, a better skater, and there were hopes he would play centre. The thinking was he had more upside than Matthew.

As do the fans. It's okay to hope for the Flames to find actual success, rather than the piss we've been force fed for the majority of the last three decades.
Sure but what does that really mean?
If it means just complaining all the time, as some do, that's not fun.
I'm not disagreeing that we should have higher expectations for this team, because it is one of the worst performing franchises in the NHL for the last 30 years, but practically speaking what do you think that looks like?

The replies in this thread are making me more confident that Tij is the right pick. Historically speaking opinions weighted, of course.

I agree. Best case scenario, is Iginla is already gone, eliminating all pressure, either taking, or passing on him.

And it means the Flames will get either a great C or great D. Everybody wins.

Well, best case scenario is winning the lottery, but assuming that doesn't happen..

Tij with two goals against Czechia at the U18s. I’m doubting more and more that he will make it to the 9th pick overall.

I think it all hinges on Montreal. If Lindstrom or Demidov make it to 5 they’ll leave Iginla. Otherwise they’ll take him at 5

I’m out on Lindstrom. Eary development injuries to Bennett, Valimaki, Pelletier, and now Honzek….

I don’t want the mental weight of another high pick with injury troubles at a young age.

I would be shocked if Lindstrom goes before Iginla

Does a good showing at this tournament drastically change a prospects draft ranking ?

It’s basically an all star team.

I wouldn’t personally take him ahead because of the injury concerns, but Montreal media is making a big deal out of an interview with him recently where he said he’d be honored to be picked by them and wants to play in high pressure places

That’s my view. He’s definitely playing like he’s a late bloomer. Gets better stats in each level he gets higher rare when the point equivalency from the lowered level to the higher increases and that’s what he is doing. I almost want him to score less so he doesn’t go sooner but if he does it makes it easy. I was pretty anti picking him but the things I’m hearing from Rink, not anymore.

It probably shouldn't but GM's are still human and deal with recency bias/last name syndrome/media hype etc. Iginla is not seen as the best player in this draft, but I'd argue he's the most hyped and talked about name in the last couple of months due to his production.

There's late risers every year and I feel Iginla is not just late rising in media/fan circles. I think we'll see him go well above his projection of two months ago.

Good, I hope they take him, I could be wrong but I don't want Lindstrom because I don't believe his hockey IQ and vision is high enough to translate to a top end NHL player.
