Not sure how anyone can have residual dislike for Luongo because of his previous Canuck stink.
His self-defeated twitter-humour made up for it in spades. He admitted his own contact sucks and essentially took every opportunity to laugh at himself and the goaltending situation in Vancouver before, during and after his departure.
The guy's a beauty.

Only solution is to use the plural form of moose - meese. Meeeeeeeeese. See! It doesn't sound like a boo now. Problem solved.

Smid is also very unlikely to retire if he is unable to play. If he retires he gives up the $4 million owed to him this season. If anything he ends up on LTIR for the whole year if it is decided he can't play.
The most likely reason as to why the Flames have no intentions about signing Elliott to a contract extension right now is they want to keep their options for goaltender open.
Possible reasons:
1. They aren't 100% completely sold on whether Elliott can/or is the solution in net long term. They want to see what he can do this season.
2. They think there might be a better goaltender available via trade or free agency at some point this season (e.g. Bishop).
3. They want to see where Gillies is in his progress after a write off season due to injury. Committing to goaltenders with term might block Gillies' (or another goaltending prospect's) ascension to the NHL and create another 3 headed monster down the line.
4. A combination of all of the above.

7uongo is an awesome jab.
Luon8o is even better.
Combining the two is best.
7uon8o. Brings back fond 2011 memories.

Not sure how that works under the CBA.

Maybe I missed it, but where is this idea of the Flames not having any intention to sign him to an extension coming from?

The Flames didn't really say that they have no intention of signing him to an extension.
They just said there is no rush to sign him to an extension (i.e. no real need to sign him to an extension right away).

Yes, for reasons listed previously.
I, for one, look forward to the chance to chant Mooooooose.
Especially if it annoys someone who can't let go of a seven year old now-irrelevant joke.
Mooooooooooooooooose.

Yes and once again Sureloss thank you for breaking that down for me lastnight.
I heard on 960 a week or so they said in just general Flames discussion to kill time, not the actual quote but similar - not showing any intended rush signing Elliott. I mistook that for "intension". But of course there are a "select few" that just pounce on the moment to troll other posters who knows maybe they are bored and shallow. Not you though I specifically look to get the level headed Accurate Flames current affairs from your posts. And if a CP member posts something that is not accurate you point it out in a respectful way. And I respect that.

I hope you don't mean to suggest that I jumped on you by asking where this idea came from? I saw your post, so went back over the last 5 pages to see if I missed anything. I didn't see it so simply asked the question. Hope no offense was taken to what was an honest seeking of clarification.

Exactly. Im not sure how this is being misconstrued as BT having no intention to sign him.
Consider BT's experience with goaltenders at the moment. Mike Smith tore up the league between the pipes during BT's time with the Yotes, earns himself a nice payday and turns into a dumspter fire and becomes rittled with injuries.
Then the 3 headed monster in YYC.. I dont blame him for not being in a rush to dump big money into a goalie. In fact, i applaud the approach.
Hes basically saying prove it. As well, leaving his options open. That is the best thing any GM can do, ensure he has options.
Elliott may earn himself a great contract after this year. But hes going to have to earn it.

All I know is that the "Moose" nickname is very personal to him and that he enjoys the call in the arena after a big save, so I'll keep doing it.

Sorry, are you talking about mine?
My post was basically the same as sureLoss', but he beat me to the punch and explained everything better than I could. There was no dig, not even a little one.

I was scanning through the thread and missed the reasons why 7uongo is more irritating than booing a goalie?
I know a lot of Calgary fans hated on the Canucks for their LUUU chants (myself included as I noted)
What irrelevant joke are you referring to?
I think the Moooose chant is inevitable. Personally I am not a fan but it won't ruin any experience for me. I just know there will be some personal backlash from my nuck buddies is all

I enjoyed doing the "LUUUUUU" chant back in January every time Bennett scored on him.
