Nakladal would be hard pressed to crack the Oilers IMO. He would be a 6/7 there.

Did you mean one of 6/7?

I am guessing that Nakladal is looking for a one-way contract, but will likely need to settle for a two-way. Still hope he signs with the Flames.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Any mention of Smid's name here for 2+ years has lead someone to believe he is done, followed by LTIR fueled nonsense.

If Smid can play then great, but I dont want to see him go out there and get his head taken off.

The hit that did him in last season wasnt anything special, it was pretty run of the mill.

Obligatory the Oilers already have 6 Nakladals.

Smid never reached his potential. He was sandpaper in front of the net when he was on, we need sandpaper. Hopefully he gets a new training regime and diet to come back bigger and stronger. If he's done that's a shame because we could really use a guy like him, our team doesn't have enough of what Smid brings.

If they find out soon that Smid is on the LTIR for the season, I wouldn't be surprised if they signed Russell to a $3 mill/yr deal.

I'd still be surprised, we have 6 more than capable defenders without Russell.
