I am not very familiar with this player at all but the risk in this deal to the team is that you are committed to someone for 6 years, who could be easily replaceable by some on an ELC or someone earning league minimum.

Now maybe Nashville and Poile see something in him and expect to be receiving great value in future years. But it would seem the player and his agent don't have the same confidence.

When you see the amount of bottom 6 forwards with experience still looking for jobs, it makes sense to take a contract like this. I'm sure guys like David Jones would kill for a $2 million contract right about now.
