Has been Fox for me since round 10.

Goalie is the position most able to individually swing a period/game/season/series. If you have a guy with upside to be better than replacement level, which each of McDonald, Parsons, and Gillies have, they should definitely be some of your most valuable prospects.

There is nothing bothering about it in the slightest, I don't have the vocabulary to describe how little one should make note of this.

I must be a lot older than most of you guys. I have seen many goalies drafted by the Flames, and none of them progress with the team to become a bonified career #1. At least not since Vernon, and he was a late-round fluke that only got a shot because Marc D'Amour suffered from chronic dehydration.

I'd be concerned if we didn't have a few goalies in our top 15/20.

So the past is doomed to endlessly repeat? Nope, that's a fantasy concept. In reality the fact we've developed few starters means nothing in regards to whether we will be able to develop starters in the future.

So because we've had crappy drafting success with goalies in the past, it's a bad thing that we have 3 goalies in the top 15 prospect list?
Should Edmonton draft less defensemen because they haven't had any success with them in the past?

If anything, we're overdue to have a drafted goalie work out for us, even if just by dumb luck.

I haven't done the math, but I bet about half the starters in the league were acquired by some other means besides the draft. I'm personally pretty excited about our goalie this year... I wonder if Elliott was ever on some team's top-15 prospect list?
