very cool. Jagr still has some gas left in the tank and the Panthers are up-and-coming. Happy for their fans!

They'll flip him at the deadline next year to recoup their assets if they arent in the playoff picture.

Only question is if Burke will let him wear 68.

The only surviving member of the Ottawa Silver Sevens 1905 Stanley Cup winning squad, Jagr will be still be playing in the NHL after you, I and our children are long since dead and buried.

No question about it.

Jaromir Jagr is a LEGEND and has probably earned the respect of every NHLer to play with or against him. He deserves his 68.

(Plus having Hudler and Jagr on RW supporting Mono, Johno, Bennett and Poirier... WOW)

Really a great deal. I'm a little surprised he wasn't openly considering retirement, but another year mentoring Barkov and Huberdeau into superstars will go a long way to making the Panthers a perennial playoff franchise.

The offense was a problem for the Panthers all year long, but defensively, and in goal, they were more than good enough to be a playoff team. Along with Jagr helping the offense both from a production and developmental standpoint, the emergence of Brandon Pirri as a bonafide goal scorer, the Panthers will likely be in the playoffs next year.

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Jaromir Jagr's #flapanthers extension:

$3.5M base salary
$1.5M games played bonus
$200,000 in points bonuses
$205,000 in playoff bonuses

by my math that is a $5.4 mil cap hit. Florida can use the bonus cushion however, though if they need to trade him at the deadline that might limit suitors.

The upside of his cap hit is that the $1.905M in bonuses can be deferred to the next season.

I think you're being really optimistic on that one.
