Default Video and Audio editing software

I'm looking to dabble in a little bit of video/audio editing on my PC (Windows), and I'm not really sure with software to start off with. I'm looking for some suggestions on what other CP'ers may recommend. I'd like to think I'm fairly tech savvy, but I don't have a whole lot of experience in the A/V editing world.

Adobe Premiere and Cyperlink PowerDirector seem to have decent reviews, are these the ones I should be looking at?

What sort of editing are you looking to do?

For my videos, I use Sony Vegas and have also used Adobe Premiere previously.

Essentially creating videos of a live music performance. The video and audio will be sourced separately, so I wanted to be able to take the video and tweak it to my liking, and add the preferred audio source.

Is Sony Vegas your go-to tool for all your videos? I'm guessing you're using the Pro line, rather than the Movie Studio product line?

Avid is the big dog, and we use it heavily but I'm in a pro environment. We also use Vegas and Adobe. Adobe Premier has really come on lately. Their cloud services are very nice.

Some people like Final Cut but we've seen it really fall off. Just use the codec now.
