It still stings a bit yes. But I'm more concerned on how the Flames will be doing in the future than something that happened over a decade ago.

I find it interesting that he neglects to mention the Calgary Flames.
I imagine it's because the Flames gave up on him pretty early, so his career didn't really take off until he got to Tampa

The Flames were the first team to offer him an NHL contract, when nobody else would do so in 1998. He should have acknowledged that.

It's just odd because normally he gives the Flames a lot of credit for giving him a chance.

I was in the arena for game 7.

And I'm over it.

He mentioned the team he played for for the vast majority of his career and his most recent team. It's as simple as that IMO. It would have been odd for him to only mentioned NYR and leave out Tampa. It would have been rude to mention Tampa and leave out his current team. He hasn't played for Calgary in 15 years.

This was pretty funny....posted on Instagram by Mats Zuccarello (Zuc's nickname is The Hobbit)

The caption reads: "Great playing with u my Sam, we will chase the ring without u now"

I don't like MSL as much as the next guy, but expecting him to thank us is as weird as if we had a celebration of his accolades as a Flame on the Calgary Flames website.

I don't like the guy, but respect his on ice play, and I don't expect a thank you for being his bridge into the NHL.

Now that he's retired, I think I can stop hating him now.

I saw on RSN that he's gone to Edmonton
to coach his son's team at the Brick tourney.

That explains it!
Then I wasn't seeing things when I saw St.Louis yesterday at Galaxyland with a NYR cap.

Glad he retired. Hope he gets into the Hall of Fame 10 years after Theo Fleury does, so never.

So you really really despise a guy you've never met and your not sure why.

I'm kind of disappointed he didn't give the flames some credit for his career. But whatever.

He is HHOF material, and a good role model.

Also appreciate that he took time to have dinner with Johnny and advise home to build legs of steel, and advise him how to dominate!

kind of tough to make an impression for a scorer to be playing in the 4th line all the time and healthy scratch mostly. I like St. Louis and I thought he could help the Flames at that time because he was a scorer in Vermont and was also a scorer in Flames minor league team. Flames never really gave him a good chance to show what he can do. I can't remember who was the coach at the time but he definitely don't care much about him.

That one's on Brian Sutter.

I find it significant that St. Louis hit 40 points the first year after the Flames let him walk. Even at the time, I thought that was a bonehead move by Button; but then, this was the man who traded Giguere for magic beans so he could protect Freddie Brathwaite in the expansion draft. Brathwaite was a terrific guy, but not the kind of goalie you pick if you can only keep one.

I hate Marty but no denying his accomplishments are HOF worthy (unfortunately)

I think Brian Sutter was the kind of coach who made rookies learn the defensive game before trusting them with big minutes. In the long run I don't think it did St. Louis any harm, we just needed some patience with him. Oh yeah and Button was a bonehead for sure. His only move that could be liked was acquiring Conroy.

and firing Greg Gilbert as a head coach..... unfortunately he gave away Marc Savard first before he got rid of Gilbert.

Button's best move was the one that got him fired: hiring Daryl Sutter

On topic: kinda meh over St louis

I heard that wasn't Button's doing, it came from above.
