Alexander Semin is worth so little that the Hurricanes are paying him $14 million not to play for them. If you want to show that Kessel brings value for money, comparing him to a bought-out contract is not a good place to begin.

Semin isn't worth $750K
And it was reported that the only other real interest was the Flames and they were merely kicking tires
What on earth is with your obsession with Kessel - let it go, he's a Pen now

I'd defer to quality sources over a GM in this case. No GM is going to say "Yeah, only one team was interested,".

This is insane. Is he worth 7.5MM? No, is he worth 2-3? Absolutely.
Don't know how to embed but his HERO chart looks like a second liner. https://twitter.com/mimicohero/statu...98690630840320

You mean like those TSN and SP "Sources" who told us Babcock would never go to Toronto?

Fact it, Tuna. For all his goal scoring prowess, Kessel simply wasn't in high demand. And for good reason.

You're basing that premise on the fact 29 teams did not want him which isn't true. They had to go by his "List". And they could have had a better deal from the Pens but Kunitz did not want to waive his NTC.

Teams not in the list can make an offer, and then Kessel could waive his NMC. There was not even one rumour of another offer out there. And nothing like with Hamilton where other teams said they would have offered more.

Where did I say "29 teams did not want him"?
And no, I am basing it off both media reports that there was limited interest, and the fact that the Leafs didn't get a whole hell of a lot back for the OMG GREATESTEST SUPERSTAR IN THE HISTORY OF HOCKEY HISTORY!!!1!!!!!!eleventy-one!!

Kessel just looks like a typical dad. If I didn't know he was an athlete I'd have absolutely no idea.

He definitely looks in better shape. He's been training with Gary Roberts this summer, so that is a given.
