The construction on 22 might be a pain in the ass tonight for anyone going south

The bridge over the Old Man River has been single lane and the light is brutal. Wasn't too bad coming out yesterday but tonight will be busy

I'm jealous of everyone getting out for the weekend.

Enjoy.

Truly awesome weekend with a bit of a shower on Saturday and just beautiful the rest of the time.

Great spots west of the provincial campground/fire station all along the water.

Some of them were dicey to get into (we have a 30' motorhome but those with trailers found it easier), but once in it was fantastic. Lots of deadfall to cut up and burn too...mostly poplar but lots of pine if you wanted to carry it a ways.

All sorts of trails for the ATV's and bikes as well. Had a bear wander by on Sunday but had no interest in us apparently.

Also, as happens most long weekends, was graced with running into idiocy. Friday about 6 we had a guy drive by with his jeep liberty or cherokee or whatever it was...only to see him come running back to our camp 10 minutes later freaking out because he had driven it into the creek (which is illegal to begin with) only to discover it was much deeper than he thought. In all his brilliance he kept trying to start it...when we tow strapped him out we pulled the air filter..it was sopping wet. Vehicle was destroyed. Darwinism.

Pretty amazing weekend for camping. Weather was great in the mountains, campsite was quiet and private and everyone had a great time.

We had a great May long at the track

Got a camping related question. Our motorhome has a built in propane tank for the furnace/fridge. Does anyone know if I can put a fitting on it so we can hook the BBQ up to it? WE currently have to drag a 20lb tank with us everywhere.

If we can't nab a reservation cancellation at a site close to Calgary, we're thinking of trying to do some random camping on crown land. Trying to research this is proving a bit challenging though, I'm assuming because people don't want everyone to find out and ruin their spot.

If anyone has camped recently in the area south of Mclean Creek, I would love to hear from you, feel free to PM. I'm trying to figure out how to get a 30 foot trailer into the OHV area without getting into any areas that are too sketchy.

Here is a link to the PDF

It's been a few years since I looked, but I seem to recall the crown camping there was non-vehicle only. I don't recall if it wasn't allowed, or simply impassible for anything other than a jacked up 4x4. As mentioned earlier in the thread, why not go to a first come, first served place now and just leave your trailer there for the weekend?

It's a possibility for sure, just don't like the idea of paying for a campsite we aren't going to use.

I'm also kind of curious to try the random camping idea near McLean as we can bring our quads and not have to worry about loading/unloading at a staging area if we tried something like Paddys or Beaver Flats

I was at Beaver Flats last night. There are a few spots left but not too many.

My kids are done school this afternoon so I suspect there are lots of us heading out tonight.

Got a spot out at Wyndham-Carseland for the weekend

Anyone have a favorite spot in town for trailer tires? Favorite brands?

I'm tired of the stupid plastic plug for my hot water tank. What are you all using? I was looking at getting something like this.
