Argh.... So living in Toronto, and wanting access to all flames will require gcl or CI subscription?

Buddy get a Bell dish and use a Calgary address. That's what I do and it works great.

This is what I was worried about when Rogers got the package. They put National games on Sportsnet One which requires a package beyond the normal Sportsnet channels. Last year you needed TSN/CBC and GCL/CI to get all the Flames games. This year you'll need to upgrade your cable package if you don't already get Sportsnet One/360 since i'm sure those will be blacked out on Centre Ice/Game Centre (assuming you don't have a way to get GCL to show you as in the US which likely can't be discussed here).

Or he could get a Shaw Direct dish with the AB address.

That's 32, not 23. It also includes ONE Sportsnet Flames game (not all games on that channel) as National, leading me to believe it's a typo.
I think you're right about the national SN Flames game on Nov. 20 being a typo. The SN and Flames press releases aren't accurate as they both are missing the Sat. Dec. 6 game against the Sharks. The Flames and NHL websites do show that game being part of HNIC. The other typo/error from the press releases mentions 15 Sat. HNIC games, it should be 14. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/flames-broadcast-schedule-released/

Earliest Flames HNIC game is 10 EST and only one of the Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Winnipeg games (we get Ottawa) will be broadcast on HNIC.

Being a Flames fan on the East coast sucks.

There are some Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday games listed as Regional, and some Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday games listed as National.

Overall, it's 32 national games and 50 regional games. The Oilers announced their schedule with the same national/regional split.
The Oilers press release gave a clue with more Habs games on national television.
http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/oilers-broadcast-schedule-released/
The Habs-Oilers game on October 27 will be on Sportsnet One.

The surprising news is that the Habs will have eight more national games this season and Sportsnet East will now be the regional carrier for the next three seasons.

Gamecenter Live will be free until December 31st for Rogers wireless and/or internet customers (which seems like something that Bell/Telus/Shaw everyone else will be ticked off with)

Overall, the Saturday night games are the most consistent as all are nationally televised. The Sunday and Wednesday games do have some exceptions.

Here is the breakdown for all the canadian teams.

__________________________________________________ __________

Calgary Flames
32 national games and 50 regional games

This is an increase of eight to ten national games over the past few seasons. The first five games and six out of seven games are on national television!

17 Saturdays and 14 of them are national games (most of them to be on the CBC), the remaining three are regional games on Sportsnet West which are matinees.

11 Wednesdays with eight on Sportsnet or Sportsnet One, the remaining three are regional games on Sportsnet West.

Five Sundays with four on CITY and the last one is a regional game on Sportsnet West.

The other six national games:

one Monday game on Sportsnet,
one Tuesday game on Sportsnet 360
two Thursday games, Sportsnet 360 and Sportsnet One
two Friday games on Sportsnet One

__________________________________________________ __________

Montreal Canadiens
40 national games and 42 regional games

The major improvement for Habs fans is that there is no more ridiculous regional Saturday HNIC games.

The Habs are the only team to have all their games on the three marquee national days air nationally.

22 Saturdays, all are national games with most of them to be on CITY
This includes the tradtional matinee the day before the Super Bowl

Six Wednesdays, all of them to be on Sportsnet

Six Sundays, four on CITY and two games on Sportsnet

The other six national games:

one Monday game on Sportsnet One
four Thursday games on Sportsnet 360
one Friday games on Sportsnet

__________________________________________________ __________

Toronto Maple Leafs
40 national games and 42 regional games

The improvement here is a net loss of one national game from last season
and the Leafs national games are only on the three marquee days.

24 Saturdays, all are national games with most, if not all on the CBC

13 Wednesdays with twelve national games on Sportsnet and one regional game on TSN4

Six Sundays with four national games on CITY and two regional games on Sportsnet Ontario.

__________________________________________________ __________

Vancouver Canucks
34 national games and 48 regional games

This is an increase of eight/nine games from the past few seasons

17 Saturdays and 15 of them are national games (most of them to be on the CBC), the remaining two games are regional games on Sportsnet Pacific which are matinees.

Four Wednesdays, all are national games on Sportsnet

11 Sundays with six national games on CITY and five regional games on Sportsnet Pacific and Sportsnet Vancouver.

The other nine national games:

two Monday games on Sportsnet
one Tuesday game on Sportsnet
four Thursday games with three on Sportsnet 360 and one on Sportsnet
two Friday games, Sportsnet and Sportsnet One

__________________________________________________ __________

Edmonton Oilers
33 national games and 49 regional games

This is an increase of nine to eleven national games over the past few seasons.

13 Saturdays and all 13 of them are national games (most of them to be on the CBC and includes the traditional Hockey Day in Canada matinee)
There is one Saturday evening game that will regionalized and it will only be on Sportsnet West.
Update: the regional game is now national, totals have changed

12 Wednesdays with nine national games (various Sportsnet channels), the remaining three are regional games on Sportsnet West

Eight Sundays with just one national game on CITY and seven regional games on Sportsnet West

The other ten national games are:

two Monday games on Sportsnet and Sportsnet One
one Tuesday game on Sportsnet 360
five Thursday games on Sportsnet 360
two Friday games on Sportsnet One

__________________________________________________ __________

Ottawa Senators
29 national games and 53 regional games

Just like the Habs, the major improvement for the Senators is that there are no more regional Saturday night HNIC games.

24 Saturdays and 18 of them are national games (most of them to be on Sportsnet), the remaining are regional games on TSN5 which are matinees.

Six Wednesdays with five national games on Sportsnet and one regional game on TSN5

Seven Sundays with six national games on CITY and one regional games on TSN5

__________________________________________________ __________

Winnipeg Jets
22 national games and 60 regional games

16 Saturdays and 14 of them are national games on the various national channels, the remaining two are regional games on TSN3 which are matinees.

Five Wednesdays and four are national games on Sportsnet and Sportsnet One

13 Sundays with only three national games on CITY and ten regional games on TSN3

The other national game is on a Tuesday on Sportsnet

There have been some additions and deletions to the Saturday Sportsnet schedule so far this season (all USA team games). The strangest addition will be this Saturday with the Oilers at Panthers game. It was supposed to be a regional game on Sportsnet West but has been upgraded to national status and will be on Sportsnet One.

No kidding, that game could be useless. Wouldn't surprise me to see it switched back. There will be other games being added on to the national schedule. This Thurs. the Predators-Sharks game will now be on SN360.

I received an email that this Wednesday, the BJs-Oilers game was demoted to regional status and will be on the secondary channel, SN Oilers. This is to make up for the earlier game in the above quote that was changed to national distribution. That is a good move since both teams are not making the playoffs. Sportsnet will be simulcasting the Kings-Ducks game instead.

It is nice to see that a Saturday 1700h game involving the stinkin' Leafs is not going to be on the CBC channel. The Sharks-Habs game will be on that channel instead and the battle of Ontario will be on Sportsnet.

I was really surprised and happy to see the Montreal game get the CBC spot. They deserve it much more than the Leafs. With all the Saturday night options now I think I've only watched one or two Leafs games on a Saturday night this year. I love not having to watch the stinking Leafs.

You could switch to Shaw Direct or Bell satellite as those carriers have the other Sportsnet feeds in HD.

Here are the channels for the Kings five game road trip.

Devils on Sportsnet but not on the West channel

Rangers on Sportsnet but not on the East channel

Islanders on SN 360 and Sportsnet but not on the East channel

Wild on all Sportsnet channels

Blackhawks on the Ontario channel only

The last day of the season, April 11, will have NBC showing a split telecast!

The two games at 1300h Mountain are the Wild at Blues and Sharks at Kings. The latter will be simulcast on Sportsnet 360. These games will be at the same time as the Flames at Jets game.

The Bruins-Lightning game will now be on NBCSN and simulcast on City or Sportsnet at 1730h.
