SJ got a huge emotional win in their last game. A rather violent affair vs MINN. Half of each teams' rosters had been on the other team not long ago... But SJ played the game they wanted to play and was well rewarded. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I would have said that this would mean that they'd waltz into a game with CGY knowing they are playing a team WAY down in the standings, that they are already 5-0 in this home stand and would take a night off and just skate around trying to make pretty plays that are broken up.

But this is so obvious that I'm sure the coaching staff is all over the boys trying keep them in mental game shape. And The EVIL ONE (Torres) should be playing his first game as a Shark - he'll come out guns blazing and that should help keep the sharks fired up.

My last post to a GDT was on opening day. Honestly, I thought that by this time of the season, these two teams would be in the fight for that last playoff spot. But the bottom fell out on CGY's season since then.

I have to agree - this could be ugly tonight. At least I hope so… if the sharks are going to do any damage at all in the playoffs, they have to be able to stomp a boot on the throat of a team already reeling from the way things are going.

Wow… my first Iggyless CGY game… That just ain't gonna look right…

edit: spoke too soon. Turns out that Torres is suffering from a bug that has wiped out the Coyotes... The Coyotes bench was a sick, disgusting place on Thursday

Tippett said they had to have buckets on the bench for ... well, you get the idea.

I think anyone who is shown to be "phoning it in" for the rest of the season should be benched for a couple games. Hopefully embarrass them into caring about their team and their fans. These guys are paid well to do a job and that job is to win hockey games. I accept that they will lose a bunch of games but I would not accept a lack of effort in those games. I'm hoping for a big win for the Flames but the likelihood of a loss is much higher.

I'm the opposite, I hadn't worn my jersey (protesting the lockout) until they traded Iggy. Now is the time they need fans more than ever.

I just can't cheer for the Flames to lose - but at this point it doesn't bother me. Let get a high draft pick out of this season - at least we'll have something to show for it.

Soooo - Flames lose this one. I kinda hope I'm wrong though and we see some of the guys have their professional pride send them into Hulk Mode and we crush the Sharks in a portent of things to come...
