You... might want to check up on that one.

He's right in that area I would say for sure, but I can see him slipping to the 11-13 range still. I still predict a massive run on Ds in the early part of the 1st which will cause a couple wingers to slip (including Eiserman)

HockeyDB has Tij listed as a Center.
I was surprised when someone said he was a center in the draft thread. I went and looked and lo and behold...

The consensus on Tij from scouting reports suggests an IQ, skill set and play style that translates well to the NHL.

I wonder if Orlov would be dumped this off-season. Canes need space for their 3 other more important UFAs. Orlov didn’t pan out as expected and is a UFA. Just using the Russian angle and thinking that Flames have the cap space to take him on if dumped. Note that I would expect Connie to have a serious discussion with Rasmus this off-season on his future as a Flame. With 2 years left and what Conroy had to deal with as GM this past season, you’d hope that he would be able to cut through the lip service early and get a top return or commitment.

Tij is listed as a center on the WHL site, but he's taken 115 face offs in 58 games which is the 6th most on the team.

Doesn't seem like he plays much center.

Also, does anyone know when we have to sign Hunter Bruztewicz (sp?) by? Was it ever confirmed that Vancouver thought they’d have problems signing him, therefore let him go in the trade?

I expect it will get announced before next weekend.

A personal hunch or what you've been hearing from sources?

No, that is what I have heard. Once trade deadline was done one of Conroy's first things on the to do list is getting that done. Should be any day now.

Have you heard anything about Jurmo? They only own his rights until June 1.

Crickets, sorry. I think we will see a bunch of announcements this upcoming week, if he isn't one of them maybe they don't see a future for him.

Conroy's work so far has put the Flames in a great cap situation. In 24-25, the Flames' players' cumulative salaries are ~$68.8 million, and the salary cap will be $87.7 million. If the Flames re-sign Pelletier, Kylington and Okhotiuk, they will have 14F, 7D and 2G.

Huberdeau - Sharangovich - Kuzmenko
Zary - Kadri - Pospisil
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Pelletier - Rooney - Coronato
Hunt - C - Duehr

Weegar - Andersson
Kylington - Miromanov
Okhotiuk - Pachal
Hanley

Markstrom
Vladar

This is exciting because the Flames could ice a decent roster and have plenty of cap space to help other teams with trades in return for futures.

Edit: This is assuming a trade for Markstrom doesn't occur. (I'm hoping one does.)

Mangiapane might also be trade bait, and Kuzmenko and Sharangovich will be the other higher profile pending UFA's.

I was looking at the upcoming UFA's this off season, I don't see many guys the Flames would chase after IMO. Very winger heavy and most of the higher end C's are 30+ and probably won't be interested in signing with a rebuilding team in a CDN market with crappy facilities.

Hopefully Conroy is able to utilize cap space to further pile up draft picks.

Just looking at this year's deadline, some of the veteran centers had surprisingly good returns (Wennberg and Monahan).

It might be wise to sign a veteran center to a 1 year deal and trade them at the deadline. The center would get minutes while playing on the Flames, but then would also get a chance at the cup.

However, I think development is always more important than pretty much anything. So let the young guys play as well.

Yeah I'd love to see them do this.

No idea. I imagine it is true because of their depth but that is me speculating on what we have heard.

I think it was more related to not having a spot for him than anything else
