One of the Edmonton SN guys just said "the ref must have forgot his glasses" after an Oiler penalty. Stay professional Sports Net.

2 short handed clear cut breakaways for the Oilers. Still 1-0 obviously.

LA honouring Ian Laperriere as a Kings Legend. Odd choice, IMO. 8 seasons, didn't start or finish career as a King, no team success, no notable stats...

It's not like the organization is short on noteworthy players.

am I the only one who didn't like AO before but now want him to succeed?

I am happy for him and I think he is giving it all he has, it just has stopped working for him. I hope he can get back to some more 60+ goal seasons.

Kings wearing their nice Retro jerseys. No idea why, in a Laker town, they haven't switched back to those colours full time.

There's no way Kevin Lowe and Tambellini can keep their jobs again if the Oilers finish near the bottom of the standings again this year, can they?

Eventually Katz has to see how much of a failure the Oilers are with these two at the helm. Which would be unfortunate, as I am sure we all hope they run the Oilers for years to come.

Four coaches in five years... they can't continuously just keeping replacing their coaches, as they aren't really the big problem in Edmonton.

Hmm Oilers going on a nine game road trip because of the Brier. They could already be essentially eliminated from contention by the end of the road trip if the end up going 2-6-1 or something.

at Chicago
at Dallas
at St. Louis
at Minnesota
at Columbus
at Detroit
at Nashville
at Chicago
at Colorado

Then they come home and play Detroit, Nashville, San Jose, and St. Louis. I really don't see a lot of wins for them in that stretch.

Katz is a fanboy. Every time he sees Lowe he probably asks him to sign his Boys on the Bus VHS tape and pees a little like an excited dog. I just hope they don't get a chance at Seth Jones, since he would legitimately help them. Also don't want them to get Lindholm, because I don't want to hate the kid.

Lappy was a very popular player with the fans, a favorite among his teammates and very involved in the community while he was in LA. He spent a lot of time with youth hockey players helping to grow the sport in California. This isn't a jersey retirement ceremony, it's one of four games each season honoring former players who made an impact while they were Kings. Laperierre is very deserving of his day today.

of course they'll be back, because....

When you're stuck
With a team
That's green
And failing

You just stick out your chin
And grin
And say

The wins will come out
Next season
Bet your bottom dollar that
Next season
There'll be wins

Just thinkin' about
Next season
Sweeps away the evidence
And the reason
Til there's none!
