With the possible exception of maybe Kulak.

What I see happening:
Bennett 2x2.5
Ferland 2x1.8
Lazar 1x850k
Kulak 1x700k
I voted 4-5 million because I cannot math good apparently.
What I hope:
Bennett 4x3.5
Ferland 3x2
Lazar 1x900k or whatever
Kulak 2x800k

Ferland deserves very close or a little more than Bennett.
$2 million for Ferland on a two year deal.
$1.75 million for Bennett for 2 years.

Why does Ferland deserve more than Bennett?

More I'm not sure will happen but I can see him getting the same. He had more goals and only one less point in five less games played than Bennett.
I still think Bennett can and will improve but I'm beginning to accept the fact that he might top out as a 40-50 point guy. I don't think he'll ever get a contract like Monahan's. He's just not on that level, and that's okay.

Approx
Ferland 2016 800k new 2.9m
Bennett 2016 3.2m new 3.7m Can't see him accepting less than what he is at already.
Lazar 2016 1.2m new 1.4m
Kulak 2016 8.1k new 8.3k
Unfortunatly it will take 8.83m to get them signed is my guess. All depends how arbitration goes as I could see Ferland and Bennett both going that route.

What? You can't include bonus money that the player didn't earn when talking about his previous salary.
Lazar made $832,500 last season. Bennett made a little over $1.1 million with bonuses included.

Funny that 3 people think the Flames are going to spend over the cap in order to get these guys signed.

Hey i don't know how that works and dont really care how bonus are laid out towards cap or not. But why is somone wasting their untapped talent here when you can apply for the next GM opening in the NHL since you seem to be a master of all knowing.

Because he's a better player than him at the moment. Until Bennett proves otherwise, he should earn less or very similar.
Bennett in no way deserves a contact that begins with a 3. At the very most $2.5 on a 3 year deal. If he wants 2 years then it should be $2 million max.

The whole point was simply that you were claiming Bennett would not take less than he was currently making, and then listed his potential maximum ELC numbers (which he came nowhere near achieving) as a baseline.
The max salary on an ELC is still $925K, with certain potential bonuses (Schedule A&B) generally available to players taken at the tops of their respective draft classes.
As stated, Bennett didn't meet the requirements for most of those, and accordingly, a $2M bridge is still very much a raise vs his current earnings.

Ferland is coming off of a two tear deal and he has arbitration rights. There is no way he signs for only one year.

Those deals tend to happen more for defenceman. Teams get a guy who has just finished his entry level deal and has about 90-120 games in the NHL. They give a better salary for the first couple years to lock guys down for 5-6 years knowing they should develop and get better. Lots of guys like Larson/Hamonic/Josi/Ellis even Brodie as comparable.
Forwards don't tend to work that way as they tend to produce at a peak rate earlier. The only potential Jarnkrok I see in this group is Lazar. You could try getting him for 6 years at 12 million and hope he becomes a 15 goal 40 point guy in there. I don't think a guy like Bennett is too interested in 22 million over 6 years...but maybe he would be.
I still believe that teams are fine to pay their good players good salaries when they can earn them. Every time you get a Roman Josi you just end up giving too much to Mike Ribiero.

Agreed. I would be ecstatic if the Flames could extend Bennett for three years, but I think that is the absolute maximum term to which he will commit, although I expect he would prefer one or two.

I guess the one good thing about fans overrating their own players is that when they sign contracts that mirror what their market value is, it will seem like a bargain.

I think it will come in under $6M personally, but I find the polls that give us these nice bell curves distributions tend to be very accurate.
