Default Ninja Editing of posts [Split from WRGMG thread]

So the subject came up about not having enough time to "ninja edit" your post; meaning the time you have to edit your post without it saying "last edited by..."

Should be 5 minutes imo.
I had a look at the setting, and currently it is set to 2 minutes. Suggestion above was 5 minutes. I do see Table 5's point- I too go back and edit a post when I see a typo. We also encourage people to pay attention to spelling and grammar, so if extending it helps- good.

However I can see how it could be mis-used; a person could in fact edit their post after they realize they have said something silly.

What do you guys want? Keep it as is, or extend it? If extend it- how long should it be.

I'd add a minute or two, gives you enough time to go over your post once you've posted it and correct any issues. Two minutes cuts it really close, four gives you time to notice and correct mistakes.

I've been known to edit mistakes that I see hours later.

I think it is fine as is. Especially since the preview post function works.

I'd even support lowering it. I find it a little confusing when someone replies to something that has been deleted and the original post isn't marked as having been edited.

I occasionally edit right after posting- rarely do I edit afterwards,.

I find even simple typos to be embarrassing. I've even gone back and edited a post days later, after someone else quoted it, just because I've spotted a typo in the quote.

How hard is it to look over a post quickly when you're done and make any corrections before posting?

Someone's still drunk from their draft party.
Edit:And yes I saw what you did there.

And I always thought it was random...a combo of time and of how many corrections you've made...clearly wrong.

Or use the "Preview Post" option.

Leave it as is, IMO.

It's more then just correcting mistakes. Sometimes I'll realize I want to add something to a post, re-arrange it to make it look better, maybe save a post and say what I was going to say in two, and make it into just that post.

Usually it's about adding a sentence, or maybe a video to a most to make my point more clear.

Remember that time when Reg started only posting in pictures for a stretch?
