Tkachuk isn't a big enough star yet to get the soft touch from the NHL.

As for the suspension? meh.. you're only giving Tkachuk more time to light a bigger fire in his belly. Saturday return in his home of St. Louis? He might score 10 goals.

No! Bennetts not going to develop at center any faster by missing two games while playing Lw. Let the kid loose a bit. I don't know why it's a stick in your crawl space to actually give Bennett a chance to get rolling. He gets more minutes and who better to play with than Backlund and Frolik. If I'm not mistaken, that was bennetts spot when he was putting up points.

Is it not painfully obvious Bennett needs a bit of an offensive boost of confidence?

Bolded line was pretty bad yesterday. Hope they pick it up.
Also looks like Lazar likes the off wing, they had Bouma on the right side to accommodate Lazar on the left side.

So....when is Pearson's hearing? I like how the explanation vid cuts out right before the retaliatory elbow.

Disagree with this verdict. Punishment should have been a fine or 1 game at the most. Anyway, hopefully this will teach him to be a bit smarter going forward. He's still just a kid. He'll figure it out.

Oh, and thanks Wideman.

How does it protect star players any less if you also suspend people who do it on non star players?

Wow. Tkachuk hits one of the leagues biggest lumberjacks and self professed clean playing players and 2 games.

Okay.

I'd have felt better if doughty didn't make himself look like a total rag doll shot out of a cannon but he did.....didn't miss a shift and played second most ice time according to the reports off of the fan 960

The Canucks were the biggest head snappers of all time but wow this head snap makes the nuckshead snap and dive shop look like Mickey Mouse.

Damn these Flames googles are on so tight its cut off circulation to my head and I can't taste the koolaid quite the same.

Oh well. We lose the spin again in the wheel of justice.

Don't change the way you play MT....the team has played so much better since you arrived and now we play much better with chips on are shoulders which is far better than tuck tailing purse swinging hockey.

If that's anyone on gaudreau there'd be no suspension and johnny would get a fine for diving.

The inconsistency in league discipline drives me crazy.

Doughty playing dead, then miraculously putting in 28+ minutes is also annoying.

I can only imagine how sad the ATL on another forum based on this thread is already.

Joke league that deserves to be at the bottom of the totem pole in North American major leagues.

I'm a huge footy fan and even I find myself wide-eyed at the disciplinary and refereeing decision by the NHL, they honestly make UEFA look like a fair and capable organization.

Tkachuk's elbow deserved 5 and a game misconduct and nothing more...

This. OMG a million times this.

The league is inconsistent, granted.

My hope is that they get better and better about giving out appropriate punishments, and you have to start somewhere. You can't whine about "this player didn't get a punishment, and look how bad this play was!" because that's in the past and it isn't going to change. I hope that the DoPS is learning how to do their job better and is going to get it right more often than they get it wrong, because nothing is going to be perfect.

This was the right call, although it was 1 game more than I thought it would be. However, since he was already spoken to earlier in the season, they were forced to be a little more harsh this time. It's still appropriate, and not some weird Wideman punishment based on setting a precedent. Accept it and move on.

The more I watch that replay the less I know. It wasn't an elbow but Tkachuk may have got him with his shoulder/tricep in the face.

I don't think it's a bad hockey play, I think the only reason it games two games is the Doughty sell job and crying to the media after.

I say again- Doughty never missed a shift and played more than anyone else in the game.

Meh. Two games, cycle in some of the depth forwards and keep the roll going. Hell maybe even get Bennett a couple games with Frolik/Backlund.

I don't know how people constantly assume that Doughty was "selling it". His head snapped back, quickly too. He also got popped right in the face with an elbow (tricep? who cares). Even when a player gets nicked with a high stick they crumple in a heap. This contact had a fair amount of force behind it.

This isn't Mike Ribeiro people.
