The announcement will be contingent on the UCP winning. Typical (pre-)election announcement

BTW Albertans - if the province is throwing in money for this - this is why we always tell you its smart to be willing to shift your vote to other parties. As soon as a party starts thinking they might lose (or could win) seats in your area - all of the sudden the money faucet starts pouring.

Isn't that the truth. Coincidence we are suddenly talking about new schools, a field house and arena in Calgary? I think not.

Last deal if what is reported was correct:
CoC $237.5M + Land + Flood Mitigation + 90% Cost to tear down Saddledome
CSEC $237.5M + $15M infrastructure + $4M climate mitigation (aka solar) + cost overruns
CoC owns. CSEC Operation + Maintenance 35 yr lease
Rumoured actual preconstruction estimate had grown to $608-$630M.

Let's see how much the city and province are going to bend over for Murray. Hopefully part of the deal is that he sells the team lol

How about the team becomes community-owned like the Green Bay Packers?

The thing is, the Alberta NDP platform is by and large a classic PC platform, so they'll have to also commit to this. Which will piss of the left wing of the party, but the Alberta NDP don't actually care about that faction. They take them for granted and see the path forward as being way more centrist than most voters realize (largely because of a half a century of red baiting but I digress)

Fitting. Edmonton is like Canada's Mexico, except for the climate.

That worked so well for the Oilers prior to Katz buying the team. Maybe that wasn't community owned, but there were like 100 odd owners.

Rumour on skyrisecities is that they’ve been given a larger footprint to work with.
