Default Who is the next elite puck stopper in the league

How do you rank these goalies according to starting goalie potential or "elite" status potential. Just wondering on the eve of Berniers' arbitration hearing.

Ortio, Bernier, Jones, Reimier, Lack, Talbot, Dubnyk.

Secondarily to that, do the leafs see Bernier as the goalie of the future or just a stopgap till the goalie of the future comes along.

Vasilevskiy is gonna be real good. Only 21 and already in the NHL. Solid numbers so far, though a small sample size.

Ortio and Gillies will form the most formidable goaltending duo in league history.

I would take John Gibson over anyone mentioned so far in this thread. Vasilevsky second. Ignoring Price of course.

Gillies would make the short list.... but he is only a year younger than Hellebuyck who the managers of team USA have pegged as the Goalie of the Future. 2 years he has been on the USA world cup team and this last year was pretty dominate in getting the USA a bronze medal.

Playing against a pretty good sampling of good NHL players:

Quote:
For the 23-year-old Hellebuyck, a Winnipeg Jets prospect, the 3-0 victory was his second shutout of the tournament. The Commerce, Michigan, native concluded the 17-day world championship with a 7-1 record, along with a 1.37 goals against average and a .948 save percentage, both statistics tops among all goalies.
Johnny Hockey's performance at the World Cup in 2014 showed to me that he was NHL ready.

Looking at Gillies .931 .931 .930 save % at Providence gets me excited about him being the Flames elite goalie in a year or 2. Hellebuyck had .951 and .942 his 2 years in Hockey east.

The Jets gave him a full year in the AHL and in his first pro year he had a .921% SV....

That was not quite as Ortio's second try at the AHL .926 and I would be very please if Gillies can match them.

Talbot without a doubt. Just looks at the Oilers record of finding the next elite goaltender that's been stuck as a backup.

He plays on a team that is defence first so he is never going to put up the same kind of numbers as other guys, ummm wait? Never mind

If you put the names of every available goalie on a dartboard and threw 7 darts, you would come up with a better list of 'next elite puck stoppers' than what the OP presented.

Dubnyk and Jones are the only two from that list that stand a chance, IMO.
