I thought Schwindt was pretty good. He and Klapka were pretty impactful.

I could see a couple teams giving Ruzicka a shot. He's not a big risk monetarily.

We all like Desimone over Oesterle, but Oesterle just got the promotion to Tank Commander so he stays.

I think Ruzicka will still be a part of the Flames organization tomorrow. The book is likely out on him and his consistency issues.

Same with Matthew Phillips, pretty garbage NHL player who managed to to have one performance against us and take away the win for us.

Ruzicka will do the same thing. Score a hat trick against us and that will be his last 3 goals in his NHL career lol

The penalty he took was really bad. Aside from that I think he was just ok.

Neither Desimone or Oesterle are tradeable assets, but of the two Desimone is much more claimable, soooo... maybe that's why he's on the wire? (Contract and/or cap space)

Would be surprised if he isn’t Europe bound after this contract.
Yes, a bigger opportunity was needed considering that the only time he got a honest look in the top nine (last year) he was damn near point a game for a 20 game stretch and led the team in scoring during that period of time.

3-4 games stretches while playing multiple different positions isn't an "opportunity". Zary for example has points in just 3 of his last 14 games playing upwards of 19 minutes a night.

As for PP time? He leads the team in powerplay points per 60..
Ruzicka has 4 PP in 63 minutes.
Backlund has 2 in 91 minutes.
Zary has 3 in 95 minutes.

I find it odd we are waiving him now considering Lindholm "should" be getting dealt shortly. Why not wait until then and see what he can do in a role that actually suites his skillset? The timing is strange to me.

Ruzicka is a RFA and would have to be tendered a qualifying offer this summer by the team holding his rights.

Either way, they could let him walk if it doesn't work out. He's not a significant cap hit.

Rosie is gone...

I am almost 100% sure some team is going to take a chance on him and give him a shot.

DeSimone is also a career minor leaguer. Most teams already have five Nick DeSimones.

If someone claims Ruzicka, I won't lose a wink of sleep over it. He's not very good and we have better prospects than him in the pipeline needing an opportunity to play.

The problem isn't waiving DeSimone, it's the fact that Oesterle remains ahead of him on the big club. Ideally, neither of these guys are NHL players, but at least DeSimone isn't a complete liability.

DeSimone is on a two-way contract, Oesterle on a one-way. Sending DeSimone down to the Wranglers saves the team actual money.

I imagine this is the reason they waived DeSimone and not Oesterle.

TBF, the Blues had just gotten away with a worse one so maybe he thought "OK, that's the standard".

But "just OK" for a kid in his NHL first game, playing centre (albeit on line 4) for quite a while is good by me. Just OK is good enough for 4th line.

There was definitely a time when I thought Ruzicka was the real deal. After seeing Zary play, it's fairly obvious the team has been lacking good prospects for a while. Also, that the type of game the team was being forced to play wasn't conducive to skilled players succeeding.

The Flames also have Coronato, Pelletier, etc.. all looking for playing time. The main commodity these days is a roster spot.

Unfortunately, I think Ruzicka may get claimed. I'll be a bit P-Oed if the Flames didn't try to salvage some assets, but maybe he's seen as replaceable enough no teams are offering any?

Because Ruzicka’s issue is he floats half the time. If he plays that way when he’s struggling to earn a regular spot on the fourth line, then it’s probably not going to change if he’s gifted ice time higher up the lineup.

Maybe getting put on waivers will be a wakeup call. But probably not. Some people are just temperamentally not suited to the intensity and committment required of an NHL player.

Sucks that Rosey hasn’t been able to fully put it together. He has the tools but gets lazy/inconsistent
